Job Overview:
The Human Resources Director (HR Director) position at the American Heart Association is a pivotal role that serves as a business partner and Advisor to leaders and employees within the Midwest region. This position is responsible for developing and implementing human resources strategies that align with the Association's goals. The HR Director will lead various HR programs and regional learning and development activities, including leadership development and virtual training sessions. The role is designed to enhance employee engagement and performance, ensuring that the workforce is equipped with the necessary skills and support to thrive. Duties and Responsibilities:
The HR Director will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Providing support to employees throughout their lifecycle, including conducting check-in calls, assisting with Development Plans, and managing departures.
- Advising employees and managers on various HR programs and procedures, focusing on onboarding, employee relations, engagement, organizational development, and talent succession.
- Utilizing HR metrics and data to provide insights for continuous improvement in culture and leadership.
- Identifying barriers to performance and implementing coaching and Development Strategies.
- Creating and facilitating virtual leadership and individual contributor training sessions.
- Leading region-wide HR projects and programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, including New Staff Orientation and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives.
- Participating in cross-functional projects and maintaining strong partnerships with other HR functions such as Talent Acquisition and Learning and Development.
- Performing other duties as assigned within the functional area.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the HR Director position must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Preferred qualifications include SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or SPHR/PHR certifications. A minimum of three years of proven experience in human resources is required, with at least two years of experience in employee and leadership coaching. Training facilitation experience is also preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with effective interpersonal skills to relate to and influence individuals at all levels. Candidates should have a solid understanding of employment laws and compliance, exceptional Microsoft Word and Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
