Job Overview:
The Human Resources Director (HR Director) position at the American Heart Association is a pivotal role that serves as a business partner and Advisor to leaders and employees within the Midwest region. This position is responsible for developing and implementing human resources strategies that align with the Association's goals. The HR Director will lead various HR programs and regional learning and development activities, including leadership development and virtual training sessions. The role is designed to enhance employee engagement and performance throughout the employee lifecycle, ensuring that the AHA remains a supportive and effective workplace. The HR Director will also have the flexibility to work from home within the 13-state Midwest region, which includes states such as Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The HR Director will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: providing support to employees throughout their lifecycle, conducting check-in calls, assisting with Development Plans, and processing departures. The HR Director will advise employees and managers on various HR programs and procedures, focusing on onboarding, employee relations, engagement, organizational development, and talent succession. Utilizing key HR metrics and data, the HR Director will provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement in culture and leadership. The role also involves improving performance by identifying barriers and implementing coaching strategies, creating and facilitating virtual training sessions, and leading region-wide HR projects that align with organizational goals. Additionally, the HR Director will participate in cross-functional projects and maintain strong partnerships with other HR functions such as Talent Acquisition and Learning and Development.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the HR Director position must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Preferred qualifications include SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or SPHR/PHR certifications. A minimum of three years of proven experience in human resources is required, with at least two years of experience in employee and leadership coaching. Training facilitation experience is also preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills, effective interpersonal skills, and the ability to relate to and influence individuals at all levels are essential. Candidates should have a strong knowledge of employment laws and compliance, exceptional Microsoft Word and Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively. The role may require local and overnight travel of up to 10%.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for the HR Director position includes a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
