Job Overview:
The Human Resources Director (HR Director) position at the American Heart Association is a pivotal role within the Midwest region, which encompasses 13 states. This position is designed for a strategic business partner who will collaborate closely with leaders and employees to develop and implement human resources strategies that align with the Association's goals. The HR Director will lead various HR programs and regional learning and development activities, including leadership development and virtual training initiatives. The role is flexible, allowing for a home-based work environment within the Midwest region, which includes states such as Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. The HR Director will play a crucial role in enhancing employee engagement and Organizational Development, ensuring that the AHA continues to foster a culture of health and hope for everyone, everywhere.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The HR Director will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: providing support to employees throughout their lifecycle, conducting check-in calls, assisting with Development Plans, and processing departures. The director will advise employees and managers on various HR programs and procedures, focusing on onboarding, employee relations, engagement, organizational development, and talent succession. Utilizing key HR metrics and data, the director will provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement in culture and leadership. The role also involves improving manager and employee performance by identifying barriers and implementing coaching strategies. Additionally, the HR Director will create and facilitate virtual leadership and training sessions, lead region-wide HR projects, and maintain strong partnerships with other HR functions such as Talent Acquisition and Learning and Development.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the HR Director position must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Preferred qualifications include SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or SPHR/PHR certifications. A minimum of three years of proven experience in human resources is required, with at least two years of experience in employee and leadership coaching. Training facilitation experience is also preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills, effective interpersonal skills, and the ability to relate to individuals at all levels are essential. Candidates should have a solid understanding of employment laws and compliance, exceptional Microsoft Word and Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively. The role may require up to 10% travel, both local and overnight.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
