Job Overview:
The HSS Technical Assistant (HSS TA) plays a crucial role in supporting the Health Safety and Security (HSS) Coordinator (HSSC) in executing HSS-related tasks at the Area Office (AO) level, which includes Field Offices (FO). This position is vital for ensuring the Safety and Security of NRC staff and operations in the region. The HSS TA will assist in the development and management of security protocols, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with NRC policies. The role requires a proactive approach to managing security risks and supporting the operational needs of the organization in a challenging environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The HSS Technical Assistant will have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting in the production of HSS-related documents for both AO and FO; managing and developing security staff; conducting Security Risk Assessments; preparing Area Security Reports; controlling area security packs; updating HSS documents; conducting physical verifications of HSS equipment; supporting AO and FO during high-intensity operations; and ensuring compliance with NRC policies. Specific tasks include producing weekly/daily security reports, inspecting HSS equipment, participating in training staff on HSS topics, and managing security briefing protocols. The HSS TA will also be involved in internal security audits and Capacity Building initiatives as directed by the HSS Coordinator.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of work experience in a Health Safety and Security-related position. Desirable qualifications include experience in Law enforcement or military, strong Coordination and control skills, and a background in HSS training and implementation. The ability to manage a varied workload in a rapidly changing environment is essential, as is the capacity to liaise with law enforcement agencies and local administrations. Candidates should also have experience working with documents that require verification and control.
Educational Background:
While specific educational qualifications are not explicitly stated, a background in security management, law enforcement, or a related field is highly desirable. Relevant certifications in health, safety, and security practices would also be beneficial.
