Job Overview:
The Guard position at NRC involves ensuring the safety and Security of NRC personnel, buildings, and properties. The role requires constant vigilance and proactive measures to prevent unauthorized access and respond to potential threats. Guards are expected to patrol assigned areas, monitor for irregularities, and maintain a secure environment. This position is critical in safeguarding the organization's assets and personnel, especially in complex and volatile contexts. The Guard will report directly to the Admin Officer and is responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly office compound while adhering to NRC's core values and operational protocols. The role also includes ensuring that communication equipment is functional and ready for Emergency situations, as well as documenting all incidents and activities within the compound.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Patrol assigned areas to ensure the security of NRC’s personnel, buildings, and properties.
- Watch for and immediately report irregularities and potential dangers, such as fire or water hazards or presence of unauthorized persons.
- Inspect perimeter defenses such as gates, doors, fences, lighting, and barbed wires to ensure they are intact and not tampered with. Immediately report irregularities.
- Reduce the impact of any attack carried out against the NRC compound through warning compound occupants, calling for assistance, and assisting with evacuation or other reactions as required.
- Attend the main gate at all times to deter unauthorized entry into the NRC compound and to open for entry and exit only for authorized persons or vehicles.
- Check the reliable legal identity (ID) of all visitors and log their entry and exit in the Visitors Book. Ensure visitors meet the person whom they are visiting. Maintain a record of all staff and visitors within the compound at any given time.
- Receive and screen for risk deliveries of mail/packages and other items. All deliveries shall be logged and handed to the Admin Department.
- Ensure proper handover to the replacement guard through Line Supervisor.
- Maintain office compound cleaning daily. 1
- Ensure that communication equipment is operational, including having credit for emergency phone calls, and that necessary equipment such as torches, with batteries is available when taking up duty. 1
- Minor incidents around office compound or outside shall be duly recorded in the occurrence book and report to line supervisor. 1
- Make sure at the Office to have a Logbook to record all items that enter and leave the Office and register the date and time of the activity, along with the name of the NRC person involved in either bringing in goods to the Office or goods exiting the Office. 1
- During on duty, keep the compounds clean and tidy. 1
- Fulfill other related tasks that may be assigned by the supervisor.

- Experience from working as a Guard in a humanitarian/recovery context.
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic English Knowledge.
