Job Overview:
The Global Director for WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) will be responsible for leading and managing WASH programs that impact over 3 million people worldwide each year. This role requires a combination of deep technical and operational experience in WASH, along with strong leadership capabilities in complex and diverse organizational settings. The director will work collaboratively with various stakeholders, both internally and externally, to ensure technical excellence, innovation, and Capacity Building within the organization. The position demands a strategic thinker who can provide thought leadership and engage effectively with external partners to enhance the impact of WASH initiatives globally.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of World Vision's global WASH strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Oversee the management of WASH programs, ensuring they are effective, efficient, and impactful.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to promote technical excellence and innovation in WASH initiatives.
- Build and strengthen the capacity of staff and partners in WASH-related areas.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of WASH programs, using data and research to inform decision-making and future directions.
- Represent World Vision at international forums and events related to WASH, advocating for the needs of Vulnerable Populations.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and standards in all WASH activities.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to WASH program staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree or PhD in a WASH-related field such as engineering in water, sanitation, or environment, or possibly Public Health.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in leading and managing WASH programs and operations, preferably across multiple regional or country contexts.
- A strong technical background in engineering related to water, sanitation, or environmental issues, or possibly Public Health.
- Proven organizational, team, and people leadership skills, with the ability to develop strategies and motivate teams.
- Experience in effective stakeholder relationship management in complex, international, and multicultural settings.
- Strong analytical skills to track and evaluate current research and advancements in WASH programs.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to engage with external networks and events.
Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or PhD in a WASH-related field. Relevant fields include engineering in water, sanitation, or environment, or possibly Public Health. This educational background is essential for understanding the Technical Aspects of WASH programs and for providing effective leadership in this area.
