Job Overview:
The GEDSI Manager will play a crucial role within the Pacific Labour Mobility Support Program (PLMSP), which is a significant initiative by the Australian Government aimed at enabling workers from nine Pacific Island Countries and Timor-Leste to work in priority sectors in Australia. This position is pivotal in managing the GEDSI team's engagement with the Pacific, providing leadership to a geographically dispersed team of GEDSI professionals. The role requires strong technical, managerial, and leadership skills, and it offers flexibility in location, allowing candidates to be based anywhere within Australia or one of the ten partner countries. The GEDSI Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing activities that align with the PLMSP GEDSI Strategy, ensuring that the program's objectives are met while maximizing benefits for workers and national economies. This is a fixed-term opportunity for four years, with the possibility of extension, making it a long-term commitment to enhancing Gender Equality, disability, and Social Inclusion in the context of labor mobility.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The GEDSI Manager will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: developing and implementing GEDSI activities that align with the PLMSP GEDSI Strategy; coordinating with Labour Sending Units (LSUs) to implement requested activities such as training and workshops; providing advice and support to LSUs; ensuring that GEDSI activities are on track and within budget; collaborating with internal program streams and stakeholders to integrate GEDSI inputs into LSUs; identifying opportunities for GEDSI support; developing GEDSI-related Training Programs for LSUs, workers, PLMSP staff, and the PALM Learning Platform; and mentoring and coaching junior colleagues while providing GEDSI support to other teams within PLMSP. The role requires a proactive approach to ensure that all GEDSI initiatives are effectively executed and contribute to the overall success of the program.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the GEDSI Manager position will possess a strong professional background in GEDSI issues, particularly within international development contexts, with a preference for experience in the Pacific region. They should have demonstrated experience in managing teams and working across culturally diverse environments. Proven success in coordinating program activities across multiple countries is essential, along with excellent interpersonal skills that enable effective collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders. The candidate must also exhibit strong written communication skills, particularly in report writing, and have experience managing budgets and resources to ensure timely implementation of deliverables.

Educational Background:
While the specific educational background is not explicitly stated, candidates are generally expected to have a relevant degree in international development, Social Sciences, or a related field that equips them with the necessary knowledge and skills to address GEDSI issues effectively.

Experience:
Candidates should have substantial experience working on GEDSI issues, particularly in programs related to international development. This includes experience in managing teams and coordinating activities across diverse cultural contexts. The role demands a proven track record of success in similar positions, highlighting the importance of both leadership and technical expertise in GEDSI.

Languages:
While the job description does not specify mandatory languages, proficiency in English is likely essential given the nature of the role and the geographical context. Additional languages relevant to the Pacific Island countries or Timor-Leste may be considered advantageous, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
This position is a fixed-term opportunity for four years, with the possibility of extension. It is important to note that candidates must have valid Australian or country-specific work rights, as visa sponsorship is not available. Relocation or mobilization support is also not provided for this position. The organization strongly encourages applications from individuals with disabilities and is committed to making necessary adjustments to accommodate their needs. The application process includes submitting a CV and a brief cover letter outlining suitability for the role, and applications will be assessed on a rolling basis until the deadline.
