Job Overview:
The Finance Officer plays a crucial role in managing the day-to-day operational finance processes within NRC. This position requires a strong adherence to NRC's financial policies and donor requirements, ensuring that all financial activities are conducted in compliance with established guidelines. The Finance Officer will be responsible for implementing financial systems and procedures, advising staff on procurement financial policies, and preparing periodic reports as requested by the line manager. The role also involves promoting improvements in the finance function and ensuring proper documentation and archiving of financial records. The Finance Officer will work closely with various teams to ensure timely payments and accurate Financial Reporting, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance Officer's duties and responsibilities include: 1. Ensuring adherence to the Financial Handbook and other NRC policies, as well as donor requirements. 2. Implementing financial systems and procedures at the office level. 3. Advising and supporting staff on procurement financial policies and required documentation. 4. Preparing and developing periodic reports on financial activities as requested by the line manager. 5. Promoting and sharing ideas for the improvement of the finance function. 6. Ensuring proper filing and archiving of all financial documents according to NRC standards. 7. Ensuring that NRC's activities are implemented within Protection mainstreaming guidelines and reporting any breaches or concerns. 8. Ensuring timely payment of contractors, suppliers, taxes, and other expenditures, verifying compliance with NRC procedures. 9. Maintaining updated cash and bankbook records, performing daily bookkeeping, and utilizing the NRC Agresso Accounting System. 10. Coordinating with finance teams regarding cost allocations and supporting month-end closure processes. 11. Recording VAT for all invoices monthly and ensuring proper filing. 12. Scanning financial vouchers and submitting them to the accounting service provider on time. 13. Reviewing partner financial reports and preparing financial verification reports in line with NRC partnership policy.
Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Finance Officer position include: 1. A Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field. 2. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting. 3. Knowledge of audit requirements and previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts. 4. Fluency in English and Polish, both written and spoken. 5. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential for this role.
Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related major. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding financial principles, accounting practices, and the regulatory environment in which NRC operates.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting. This experience should ideally include working in complex and volatile contexts, which will help the candidate navigate the challenges associated with Financial Management in humanitarian settings.
