Job Overview:
The Field Coordinator position at NRC is designed for individuals who are passionate about helping refugees and those forced to flee. The role involves providing efficient support to project implementation in the Gwoza/Pulka Field Office. The Field Coordinator will be responsible for managing field staff across various functions, including Finance, HR & Admin, and Logistics/ICT, while ensuring adherence to NRC policies and procedures. The position requires Coordination with program staff and managing budgets and costs for the field office. The Field Coordinator will also play a crucial role in promoting the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees, aligning with NRC's advocacy strategy. This role is pivotal in ensuring that NRC's projects are implemented effectively and that the needs of the community are met.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Field Coordinator will have a range of responsibilities, including:
  • Line management for field staff across Finance, HR & Admin, and Logistics/ICT, ensuring coordination of program staff.
  • Managing and coordinating HR & Admin, finance, logistics, and security tasks of the field office.
  • Ensuring adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, procedures, and SOPs/guidelines.
  • Coordinating budgets and costs for the field office’s shared costs and support functions.
  • Supporting the training and development of staff.
  • Coordinating representation meetings with the UN, partners, and authorities.
  • Providing effective operational management and timely updates regarding context and needs to the Area Manager.
  • Supporting safety and security measures for NRC staff and participants.
  • Contributing to program development and ensuring stakeholder inclusion in project planning and implementation. 1
  • Ensuring adherence to financial and logistical systems and procedures, including timely submission of cash forecasts and budget control.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of humanitarian response architecture, particularly in emergency response and humanitarian protection. Previous experience in complex contexts is essential, along with demonstrated experience in Management and Project Cycle Management. Candidates should have fluency in English, both written and verbal, and be computer literate in Microsoft Office, particularly in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Good leadership and management skills are also required.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree in social science, Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, or Business Management is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and managing projects effectively.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in a similar role within a humanitarian and/or recovery context. Experience in support functions such as Logistics, Finance, or HR is advantageous. Familiarity with the context in northern Nigeria, particularly Gwoza-Pulka, is also important. Experience in context Analysis, humanitarian needs assessment, project monitoring and evaluation, and program development is highly valued.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, fluency in local languages is considered a strong advantage, as it facilitates communication with the communities served by NRC.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria, with a contract duration of 3 months, which is renewable. The position is classified as Grade 7 in NRC's grading structure, and the reporting line is to the Area Manager.
