The organization operates in approximately twenty countries and employs around 3000 individuals, including expatriates, national staff, and volunteers. Job Overview:
The Field Coordinator serves as the representative of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL at the provincial level, specifically for Nimroz and Farah provinces. This role involves proposing and implementing strategies that align with the geopolitical and humanitarian context of the area. The Field Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that projects adhere to the organization's charter and internal procedures. This includes mobilizing necessary resources for program execution, supervising Resource Management, and ensuring the security of the teams in the assigned zones. The Field Coordinator also represents the organization to local authorities and maintains communication with the country office regarding any challenges faced.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Field Coordinator's primary responsibilities include: 1. Developing and proposing a strategic plan for Nimroz and Farah provinces based on the humanitarian context. 2. Ensuring the implementation of projects in accordance with the organization's charter and contractual obligations. 3. Mobilizing material and Financial Resources necessary for program operations. 4. Supervising the management of resources and ensuring the security of team members in the field. 5. Building and maintaining relationships with local authorities and other organizations in the area. 6. Conducting assessments to understand the needs of the population in Nimroz and Farah. 7. Clarifying humanitarian principles with the team and ensuring compliance. 8. Overseeing the opening of a sub-base in Farah and managing the team dynamics during this process. 9. Establishing a network of contacts with Afghan authorities and other stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in humanitarian/development studies, social sciences, management, or a related discipline. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 5 years in a similar position. Technical skills required include experience in security management in complex environments, humanitarian/context Analysis, HR management, external representation in sensitive environments, negotiation and diplomatic skills, project cycle management, and training/Capacity Building skills.
Educational Background:
A Master’s Degree in a relevant field such as humanitarian/development studies, social sciences, or management is required for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of humanitarian work and to effectively manage programs and teams in challenging environments.
Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 5 years in a similar role. This experience should include a proven track record in security management, humanitarian analysis, and external representation in sensitive contexts. Experience working in Afghanistan or with similar organizations is considered an asset.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of a local language, such as Dari or Pashto, is considered an asset and would enhance communication with Local Communities and authorities.
Additional Notes:
The position is a short-term contract with a duration of 6 months, starting on April 20, 2024. The salary is based on experience, starting from EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 600 is provided. Accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment are covered by SI. The position includes a break system, allowing for 7 working days off every two months, along with an additional rest day for each month worked. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations. Living conditions in Kabul are reasonable, but the security situation remains tense, requiring careful management. The Field Coordinator will be based in Zaranj, the capital of Nimroz province, where living conditions can be challenging, including extreme temperatures and social isolation.
