Job Overview:
The Executive Director, Development position is a pivotal leadership role within the American Heart Association, specifically serving the Collin County area in Texas. This role is crucial for driving the organization's mission and Fundraising efforts. The Executive Director will report directly to the Senior Vice President of North Texas and will be responsible for staffing the Volunteer Board of Directors, fostering volunteer engagement, and providing strategic direction to staff. The position entails managing a fundraising goal of over $2 million, which requires a strong focus on revenue generation and Community Engagement. The Executive Director will actively participate in community and corporate functions to network and generate new contacts that align with the Association's mission. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Executive Director will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: driving results through effective volunteer recruitment and management; Strategic Planning to meet sales and fundraising goals; sustaining existing corporate partnerships while building new revenue support; leading top-level cultivation strategies and engagements; cultivating major donors and securing large corporate sponsorships of $25,000 or more; identifying and securing foundation gifts; coaching and leading staff to meet market goals; collaborating with internal partners such as Health Strategies and School Engagement teams to drive specific cause initiatives; and representing the AHA at community events to enhance visibility and support for the organization’s mission.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Executive Director position should possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with a preference for those with a background in non-profit fundraising or similar fields. A minimum of 5 years of successful experience in non-profit fundraising is required, along with at least 3 years of managerial experience, ideally leading a sales or fundraising team. Experience in managing and cultivating relationships with high-level leaders at the C-suite level is essential. Candidates should have direct knowledge of special event fundraising tactics and the ability to travel within the Collin County area, requiring reliable transportation. A solid understanding of engaging with philanthropic communities and proficiency in Microsoft Office is also necessary.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field. While a specific degree is not mandated, candidates with degrees in business, communications, or non-profit management may find themselves at an advantage due to the nature of the responsibilities involved in this role.
