Job Overview:
The EU Donors Visibility Communications Consultant will play a crucial role in providing strategic guidance for visibility and communications activities related to IRC’s projects funded by the European Union (EU), specifically through ECHO and INTPA. This position involves Project Management for approximately 10 content collections and the creation of final communication deliverables for around 15 grants. The consultant will be responsible for producing engaging content that highlights the impact of IRC’s EU-funded programs, coordinating with photographers and videographers, and ensuring that the communications align with donor requirements. The role requires travel to various program sites, particularly in the MENA region and East Africa, to collect compelling stories and visual content that resonate with both European and global audiences.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:
- Planning and executing content collection trips to IRC’s EU-funded programs, primarily in the MENA region and East Africa, in collaboration with HQ and regional communication teams.
- Coordinating with photographers and videographers to capture high-quality interviews, photographs, and video footage.
- Collaborating with program colleagues to identify and document inspiring stories from IRC beneficiaries and staff.
- Traveling to program sites to gather multimedia content that showcases the impact of IRC’s work.
- Writing and reviewing case studies that summarize the stories of interviewees and highlight the IRC's impact.
- Engaging with the Awards Management Unit and program teams to provide strategic input on communication proposals, ensuring alignment with donor contractual requirements.
- Writing and publishing human-interest articles, photo stories, and Social Media posts for IRC's web platforms.
- Developing concepts, scripts, and storyboards for videos, overseeing the production process to ensure high-quality final products.
- Suggesting editorial roadmaps and collaborating with digital communication teams for effective publication. 1
- Writing and reviewing Press Releases based on insights from global media colleagues and planning for the external publication of EU-funded content. 1
- Researching and supporting the procurement of dedicated photographers and videographers.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree in a relevant field or demonstrate equivalent proven experience in communications. Full proficiency in English is mandatory, while professional working proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset. The ideal candidate should exhibit strong creative thinking abilities and a knack for producing innovative content. Attention to detail is crucial, along with experience in writing high-quality articles and social media posts under tight deadlines. Proficiency in Design, photo, and video editing software, including Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Adobe Lightroom, is essential. Excellent organizational and time management skills are required to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. A solid understanding of social media and the digital landscape is also necessary, along with the ability to work collaboratively within a team and maintain strong relationships across the organization.
Educational Background:
A degree in a relevant subject such as communications, media studies, or a related field is required. Alternatively, candidates may qualify based on equivalent proven experience in the communications sector, demonstrating a strong understanding of the principles and practices of effective communication.
Experience:
Candidates should have a demonstrated level of experience in communications, particularly in producing content for various platforms. Experience in project management, content creation, and working with multimedia formats is highly desirable. Familiarity with the humanitarian sector and understanding of EU funding mechanisms would be advantageous.
Languages:
Full proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. Professional working proficiency in Arabic is considered a valuable asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
