Job Overview:
The Education Technical Assistant position is designed to support the implementation of education activities in South Kordofan, Sudan. The role involves assisting in the day-to-day operations of educational programs, ensuring adherence to NRC policies and guidelines, and promoting the rights of vulnerable populations, including refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs). The Education Assistant will be responsible for preparing reports, maintaining documentation, and facilitating communication with beneficiaries and stakeholders. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to improving educational outcomes for children in the region. The Education Assistant will work closely with teachers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure effective program delivery and support the educational needs of the community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Education Technical Assistant will have a range of responsibilities, including:
- Providing daily support to education incentive workers and teachers, ensuring alignment with program objectives and NRC quality standards.
- Maintaining computerized and manual records related to the education program, including tracking attendance and participation of children and teachers.
- Ensuring the proper maintenance of educational tools, resources, and equipment used by the education team.
- Facilitating direct communication and feedback with beneficiaries, including community leaders, headmasters, teachers, and students.
- Leading Community Mobilization and sensitization efforts to promote educational initiatives.
- Assisting in capacity-building activities for teachers and other beneficiaries.
- Organizing and participating in Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), School Improvement Plans, and School-Based Management Committees.
- Implementing distributions of teaching and learning materials, maintaining accurate records of commodity movements.
- Ensuring that schools and learning spaces are safe for children and reporting any protection concerns. 1
- Establishing a complaints and feedback response mechanism at the field level. 1
- Performing any other tasks relevant to the position as assigned by the Supervisor or management.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Education Technical Assistant position should possess the following qualifications:
- Experience working in a humanitarian or early recovery context is preferred.
- Familiarity with complex and volatile environments is advantageous.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel, are required.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Willingness to live and travel in remote areas as needed.
- Fluency in Arabic, both written and verbal, is required; proficiency in English is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Education in Emergencies (EiE) and formal Basic Education is preferred.
- Understanding of the needs and challenges faced by refugee, host community, returnee, and IDP children is beneficial.
- Experience working with local organizations, government institutions, or community initiatives is preferred. 1
- Field-level experience with an NGO or UN organization is an asset. 1
- Understanding of SPHERE and INEE Minimum Standards is an asset. 1
- Candidates with degrees in Computer Science, IT, data Analysis, Data Management, or communication are encouraged to apply, and experience in Child Protection may be considered in lieu of other qualifications.
Educational Background:

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory for this position, as it is essential for communication with beneficiaries and stakeholders in the region. Proficiency in English is strongly preferred, as it may be necessary for reporting and collaboration with international teams. Knowledge of additional local languages may also be beneficial, depending on the specific community context.
