Job Overview:
The Education Officer will play a crucial role in overseeing the implementation of education projects within the North Area Office. This position encompasses both hard and soft components of the education program. The hard component includes managing the repair of schools and the school support cash/voucher program, while the soft component focuses on Teacher Training and various educational programs. The officer will be responsible for ensuring that the education initiatives are effectively executed, targeting the most vulnerable beneficiaries, and collaborating with local authorities and stakeholders to promote the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees. The role requires a proactive approach to program development, monitoring, and reporting, ensuring that all activities align with NRC's policies and standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Education Officer will implement education activities under the guidance of the Education Project Coordinator. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining effective filing systems, conducting education needs assessments, creating weekly and monthly work plans, facilitating school rehabilitation processes, and providing support for NRC activities such as training sessions and youth programs. The officer will also oversee multiple rounds of education training, monitor project spending, and ensure proper procurement and distribution of training materials. Regular field travel is required to support and monitor education and training activities, and the officer will maintain positive relationships with teachers, headmasters, and Department of Education representatives. Additional tasks may be assigned by the line manager as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have experience working in a humanitarian or recovery context, with a minimum of one year of relevant experience in education or Social Services, including Psychosocial-support" id="link" class="link">Psychosocial Support. Documented technical competencies related to the position's responsibilities are essential, along with knowledge of the humanitarian sector. Experience in psychosocial support programming in education and conducting training for adults is highly desirable. Familiarity with the education system in Ukraine and the ability to remain calm and professional in tense situations are also important qualifications.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background in education, social services, psychology, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of educational practices and principles, particularly in the context of Humanitarian Assistance.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of one year of relevant experience in the field of education or related areas. Candidates should have experience working in complex and volatile contexts, demonstrating the ability to handle challenging situations effectively. Previous experience in training and Capacity Building within educational settings is an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in Ukrainian is mandatory, along with a working knowledge of English, both written and verbal. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an advantage, particularly in enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.

This position is full-time and may involve regular travel to field locations to oversee education and training activities. The role is focused on supporting the education sector within a humanitarian context, and candidates should be prepared to work in potentially insecure environments.
