SI is particularly dedicated to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, which is a leading cause of death globally. Their interventions include expertise in access to Drinking Water, sanitation, Hygiene Promotion, Food Security, and livelihoods. SI operates in approximately twenty countries and employs around 2,500 individuals, including expatriates, national staff, and volunteers, all committed to professionalism and cultural respect in their humanitarian efforts.

Job Overview:
The Field Coordinator serves as the organization's representative at the field level, tasked with proposing and implementing strategies tailored to the geopolitical and humanitarian context of the area. This role involves ensuring that projects align with the Solidarités International charter and adhere to internal and contractual procedures. The Field Coordinator is responsible for mobilizing the necessary material and Financial Resources for program execution, overseeing Resource Management, coordinating field teams, and ensuring their security within the assigned zone. As the mission is in its opening phase, the Field Coordinator will play a crucial role in establishing operations and building the team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Field Coordinator's duties include:
  • Leading the kickoff and launch of new projects at the field level, particularly those funded by ECHO and CDCS.
  • Coordinating the recruitment, induction, and training of the base team to ensure a competent workforce.
  • Representing the organization and coordinating with partners and local authorities at the field level.
  • Conducting assessments and developing new proposals for future projects.
  • Managing security protocols and ensuring the safety of all team members in the field.
  • Overseeing resource allocation and management to ensure efficient program delivery.
  • Reporting on project progress and challenges to senior management.
  • Engaging with local communities and stakeholders to foster collaboration and support for SI's initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in humanitarian or development studies, social sciences, management, or a related discipline. They should have experience in base opening and working in countries with stringent administrative regulations, demonstrating strong Coordination skills with local authorities. A solid understanding of principled-based approaches and diplomatic engagement is essential, along with excellent reporting and writing skills. Previous experience in consortium work and partnerships with local and international NGOs is highly valued, as is the ability to manage and motivate team members effectively.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as humanitarian or development studies, social sciences, management, or other related disciplines. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the socio-political dynamics in the regions where SI operates.

Experience:
Candidates should have substantial experience in humanitarian settings, particularly in base opening and operational management. Experience in East Africa is considered an asset, as is familiarity with SI's sectors of expertise, including WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), and Shelter. Proven management skills and the ability to work effectively in challenging environments are essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of a local language is considered an asset, as it can facilitate communication with local communities and enhance the effectiveness of program implementation.

Additional Notes:
The position is a salaried role with compensation starting from 3,080 EUR gross per month, which includes a base salary of 2,800 EUR and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 750 is provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the assignment location. The organization implements a break system, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, along with a USD 850 break allowance. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs, as well as essential vaccinations and antimalarial treatments. Living conditions at the capital level are generally good, with access to essential goods and services, although field conditions may be more challenging.
