Job Overview:
The position of Driver at NRC involves the safe transportation of staff, visitors, and materials to designated locations. The driver is expected to adhere to local traffic regulations and NRC's logistical policies while ensuring the Safety and Security of passengers and goods. The role requires maintaining the vehicle in optimal condition, including cleanliness and regular checks on fuel and technical status. The driver will also provide logistical support during training and workshops, ensuring that all necessary documentation and equipment are available in the vehicle. This position is crucial for facilitating the organization's operations and ensuring that staff can travel safely and efficiently to carry out their humanitarian work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The driver is responsible for transporting NRC staff, visitors, documents, and goods to designated destinations as per official approval. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the safety and security of passengers and goods during transport.
- Reporting any accidents, breakdowns, or maintenance needs immediately.
- Adhering to local traffic regulations and NRC's driver and vehicle policies.
- Maintaining a logbook for all trips and ensuring the vehicle is in proper operating condition.
- Keeping the vehicle clean and ensuring it has enough fuel.
- Arranging for repairs and servicing in Coordination with the line manager.
- Ensuring the vehicle has all necessary documents and equipment.
- Providing logistical support during training and workshops.
- Performing daily checks on the vehicle, including oil, water, brakes, and tires. 1
- Ensuring the vehicle is equipped with a first aid kit and spare tire. 1
- Logging all trips and ensuring fuel levels are recorded accurately. 1
- Keeping all required licenses and permits valid and available in the vehicle. 1
- Following NRC's Driver Manual and reporting any major repairs needed to the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
- SSCE of WASSCE or NECO Educational Qualification is required.
- A valid driver's license is mandatory.
- Experience working as a driver in a humanitarian or recovery context is essential.
- Previous experience in complex and volatile environments is preferred.
- Documented results related to the position's responsibilities are required.
- Knowledge of English is necessary, along with geographical area knowledge.
- Fluency in English and local languages is highly desirable.
Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed their secondary education, specifically holding an SSCE of WASSCE or NECO qualification. This educational background is essential for understanding the responsibilities associated with the driving position and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and local regulations.
Experience:
The position requires candidates to have prior experience working as a driver, particularly in humanitarian or recovery contexts.
