Job Description

  GOAL has been working in Syria since 2013, responding to the acute needs of conflict-affected communities. GOAL is working in North West Aleppo both through direct implementation and through partners, delivering food, non-food programming to highly vulnerable populations, and provision of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) through support to Water units, as well as Emergency support to recently displaced households.

Job purpose:

General Description of the Role A key function of Distribution Team Member (TM) is to work as part of a team to perform any of programme activities including:
  • Selection, Targeting and Verification Activities
  • Distribution activities
  • Hygiene Promotion activities
Duties, objectives and competencies

  • Effective and constant communication with local councils, Camp Managers and communities, providing a basic information about GOAL and its program in Syria as needed.
  • Facilitating a training for project staff to support project activities.
  • Provide support in Nutrition activities including screening and referral case monitoring.
  • Contribute as a team member to complete his/her role as be assigned in any stage of the distribution activities.
  • To coordinate and maintain proper record of beneficiary’s selection, targeting and verification, submit these records for the regular review and advise to improve documentation with the Data Entry.
  • Verification (Checking) of beneficiary lists;
  • In collaboration with the project team, to monitor the impact of GOAL’s work on the communities served
  • Ensure that all documents of activities of distribution are filled in, and given to the team leader daily.
  • Work alongside Monitoring and Evaluation team as required;
  • Provide feedback for the Design of appropriate hygiene promotion messages and methods of dissemination;
  • Assist the team leader with planning the daily work for the team.
  • Provide information to the Distribution Team Leader with daily updates at the end of each day, including:
  • Security situation in the GOAL villages and neighbouring villages.
  • Any difficulties encountered and how they were overcome.
  • Community complaints or relief committee complaints.
  • What documents are not yet completed and when they will be completed.
  • Observations about other organisations doing relief/ humanitarian work in the villages where GOAL works.
  • Other tasks assigned to him/her by the supervisor as they are needed
Requirements (essential)

  • Has a knowledge and believing in humanitarian principles.
  • Fluency in Arabic; (Spoken, written)
  • Previous Experience in Hygiene promotions activities is Desired
  • Diplomacy, tact, communication and negotiating skills;
  • Personnel Management skills;
  • Ability to work well in a team in difficult circumstances;
