We have an excellent opportunity for a Director, Development Operations with the Bay Area Division. The primary responsibilities are to develop, plan, manage and implement operations and special events/digital experiences to ensure overall success in achieving revenue, health impact and volunteer engagement goals. Will also provide coaching and supervision to two Development Coordinators.

To help you be successful you will have access to our award-winning learning platform the Heart U as well as various other training and support mechanisms locally and through our National Center.

Due to the current pandemic, all American Heart Association offices are closed and daily travel is minimal and voluntary to ensure the health and safety of staff; all staff are currently working from home. In the future, this position will resume to being based in the local office and having up to 5% daily travel and minimal overnight travel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop schedules, plan strategy, and executes against timeline for meeting deadlines for special events/digital experience. This includes but is not limited to developing staffing plans and guides, securing permits and licenses, and designing and creating routes and diagrams.
  • Guide and direct assigned staff to reach goals in operations; event volunteer recruitment, orientation, training and recognition; event Logistics, auction item procurement and vendor management.
  • Develop, plan, and oversee volunteer recruitment and management.
  • Oversee and directly contribute to the participation of assigned industries such as area wineries with events. Includes procurement of auction items and management of stakeholder relationships.
  • Serve as the operations lead for the Bay Area Division on facilities, finance/accounting, Human Resources, safety and Security, and vendor management.
  • Propose process improvements for operational excellence and leads the implementation of new ideas.
Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in managing complex operations and projects in a high performing team environment with personal accountability for quality and results.
  • Experience in negotiating services and managing service level agreements.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience managing staff and/or volunteers preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with proactive communication, thorough planning and execution and allocating/providing resources, additional support or training.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to consistently maintain a professional, calm and friendly manner in creating positive customer experiences externally and internally.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to identify potential issues that may impact organizational productivity and/or compliance and address proactively and timely.
  • Ability to do daily travel up to 5% and minimal overnight travel.
  • Must have at least intermediate knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets. Advanced knowledge and skill with these programs is preferred. These skills are subject to testing.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
