Job Overview:
The Development Director, School Engagement position at the American Heart Association is a dynamic role that combines Fundraising and sales with a focus on children's health. This field-based position requires extensive travel across the Twin Cities Metro area, engaging primarily with K-12th grade students through the Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge programs. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Development Director, School Engagement will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
- Meeting an overall fundraising goal of $350,000-$400,000 through effective Volunteer recruitment and engagement.
- Recruiting and engaging students through schools and districts in initiatives like the Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge.
- Implementing strategies to fully engage students through classroom challenges, activities, and assemblies, both in-person and digitally.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with teachers, principals, and district superintendents to ensure ongoing collaboration and support.
- Providing outstanding customer service to volunteers and collaborators, including detailed planning and kick-off meetings to set schools up for success.
- Managing a high volume of accounts, regularly working with 5-10 schools each day, either in-person or through online communication.
- Keeping account information updated in customer relationship management databases and utilizing Microsoft Office for Data Management and reporting.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Development Director position should possess the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or a related field.
- Proven ability to work productively and efficiently from a home office and in the field, in line with the AHA's flexible work arrangements policy.
- Strong independent working skills with proactive communication abilities.
- Highly effective Marketing, organization, multi-tasking, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Proficiency in maintaining account information and managing data using customer relationship Management Systems, along with strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Reliable transportation for daily local travel is essential.
Educational Background:
