Job Overview:
The Development Director for Boston is a pivotal role within the American Heart Association, responsible for driving Fundraising efforts across the Boston Metro market. This position is hybrid, requiring daily travel within the Boston area while being based in the Wellesley office. The Development Director will be tasked with achieving ambitious revenue goals through various fundraising strategies, including securing corporate sponsorships, cultivating individual donors, and leading Volunteer committees for campaigns such as Go Red for Women. The role demands a proactive approach to building relationships with corporate partners and community leaders, ensuring that fundraising initiatives align with the AHA's mission and standards. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, sales-oriented environment, where they will be expected to meet and exceed fundraising targets while fostering a culture of collaboration and engagement among volunteers and stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Development Director will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
- Achieving revenue goals through the solicitation of large corporate sponsorships and individual donations.
- Researching and identifying potential corporate partners and volunteers for AHA campaigns.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with corporate sponsors and individual donors to enhance their financial commitment.
- Engaging and mobilizing CEOs and community leaders to participate in volunteer leadership roles and fundraising events.
- Leading volunteer recruitment and engagement efforts, particularly with C-suite executives and managers.
- Managing the annual cycle of digital experiences and events, including goal setting and team motivation for the Go Red for Women campaign.
- Developing detailed profiles and engagement plans for top businesses in the assigned market.
- Overseeing Event Management, including planning, Logistics, implementation, and post-event evaluations for continuous improvement.
- Collaborating with the Communications Director to support campaign communication strategies.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising, sales, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of community organizations, fundraising principles, and Marketing techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in group presentations and training.
- Proven ability to form Strategic Partnerships with Fortune 1000 companies or similar organizations.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% within the local market.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Physical capability to lift and move large objects, with assistance as needed.
Educational Background:
While a university or college degree is preferred, equivalent experience in fundraising or sales may be considered. The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background that supports their ability to engage with high-level leaders and navigate complex fundraising environments.
Experience:
The position requires at least 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or a similar field. Candidates should have a track record of successfully securing sponsorships and donations, as well as experience in managing volunteer committees and leading fundraising campaigns.
Languages:
