Job Overview:
The Development Director position at the American Heart Association in Honolulu, Hawaii, is a pivotal role focused on generating revenue for the Heart Challenge Fundraising campaign, which includes the signature Hawaii Heart Walk event. This position operates in a fast-paced, sales-oriented environment where the primary responsibility is to drive revenue in support of the AHA's mission. The Development Director will be expected to build and maintain relationships with corporate partners and individual donors, develop proposals, and engage volunteers to support fundraising efforts. The role also includes planning and implementing events in collaboration with various partners, ensuring that the AHA's mission is effectively communicated and supported through these initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Development Director will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
- Generating revenue by prospecting and securing local corporate sponsorships and individual donations.
- Achieving revenue goals through relationship building with corporate partners and donors.
- Conducting research to build and maintain a pipeline of prospective sponsors and donors that align with the campaign goals and the AHA's mission.
- Developing and presenting proposals and materials to secure revenue and Volunteer engagement.
- Recruiting and managing executive volunteer leadership and volunteer committees, as well as day-of-event volunteers.
- Encouraging corporate team participation in the Heart Walk and motivating team members to fundraise effectively.
- Leading efforts to engage new individual members for the Cor Vitae giving society, including planning and implementing regular engagement events.
- Collaborating with internal and external partners to plan and implement events that support fundraising efforts.
- Working closely with the Communications Director to support and promote campaign communication plans.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Development Director position should possess the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or a similar field.
- Proven ability to conduct daily local travel, requiring reliable transportation.
- Physical capability to lift and/or move large objects, with the understanding that assistance may be needed for heavier items.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is essential. Preferred qualifications include:
- A university or college degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience managing and cultivating relationships with high-level leaders at the C-Suite level.
- Knowledge of corporate and community networks that can be leveraged for fundraising.
Educational Background:
While a university or college degree is preferred, equivalent experience in fundraising or sales may also be considered. The educational background should ideally align with the responsibilities of the role, emphasizing skills in communication, relationship management, and Strategic Planning.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or a related field.
