Job Overview:
The Development Director position at the American Heart Association in Seattle, Washington, is a pivotal role responsible for generating revenue through the Heart Challenge campaign, which includes signature events like the Seattle Heart & Stroke Walk and Tacoma Heart & Stroke Walk. This role operates in a fast-paced, sales-oriented environment, where the primary focus is on driving revenue to support the AHA's mission. The Development Director will be expected to build and maintain relationships with corporate sponsors and individual donors, ensuring that revenue goals are met. The position offers a base salary with the potential for an incentive of up to 25% based on achieving specific revenue targets. The AHA provides resources for work-life harmonization and professional development, including access to Heart U, the organization’s corporate university.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Development Director will be responsible for generating revenue by prospecting and securing local corporate sponsorships and individual donations. Key responsibilities include achieving revenue goals through relationship building with corporate partners and donors, maintaining a pipeline of prospective sponsors and donors through research, developing and presenting proposals to secure revenue and Volunteer engagement, recruiting executive volunteer leadership and committees, motivating corporate team participation in Heart Walk events, leading engagement for the Cor Vitae giving society, planning and implementing events in collaboration with partners, and working with the Communications Director to support campaign communication plans.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have at least 3 years of relevant experience in Fundraising, sales, or a similar field. They should possess the ability to travel locally on a daily basis, have access to reliable transportation, and be capable of lifting or moving large objects as needed. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, along with strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with stakeholders.
Educational Background:
While a university or college degree is preferred, equivalent experience in fundraising or sales may be considered. Candidates should have a solid understanding of corporate and community networks, particularly in relation to fundraising and sponsorship.
Experience:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising or sales, with a proven track record of achieving revenue goals and managing relationships with high-level leaders, particularly at the C-Suite level. Experience in event planning and execution is also beneficial.
Languages:

Additional Notes:
This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $66,700 to $81,200, commensurate with experience.
