Job Overview:
The Development Director position is a critical role within the American Heart Association, particularly focused on generating revenue for the Go Red for Women Fundraising campaign. This campaign is not only a signature event but also a vital part of the AHA's mission to promote heart health among women. The Director will work in a fast-paced, sales-oriented environment, where the primary responsibility is to drive revenue through various fundraising strategies. This includes soliciting corporate sponsorships, cultivating individual donors, and leading Volunteer committees. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Development Director will be responsible for achieving specific revenue goals and ensuring the recruitment and development of volunteer leadership. Key duties include:
- Soliciting large dollar and multi-year corporate sponsorships, as well as cultivating individual donors.
- Engaging with corporate partners and community leaders to secure their participation in fundraising events.
- Leading volunteer committees and managing the Logistics of fundraising events, including planning and execution.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with corporate sponsors to ensure ongoing financial support.
- Conducting research to identify potential corporate partners and individual donors.
- Organizing and leading engagement events for members of the personal giving society.
- Collaborating with the Communications Director to promote campaign initiatives effectively.
- Managing the annual team cycle for digital experiences/events related to the Go Red for Women campaign.
- Evaluating the success of events and campaigns to identify areas for improvement.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Development Director position should possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising, sales, or a related field. They should have a strong understanding of community organizations and the principles of sales and Marketing. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as the role involves presenting to large groups and facilitating training sessions. Candidates should also have experience forming Strategic Partnerships with Fortune 1000 companies or similar organizations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, and the ability to travel up to 75% within the local market is necessary. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and move large objects, with assistance as needed.
Educational Background:
A university or college degree is preferred, although equivalent experience may be considered. Candidates with a background in fundraising, sales, or marketing will be particularly well-suited for this role.
Experience:
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising or sales, with a proven track record of achieving revenue targets. Experience in leading and cultivating relationships with high-level leaders, particularly at the C-Suite level, is highly desirable. Familiarity with corporate and community networks will also be beneficial.
Languages:
