Job Overview:
The Deputy Finance Coordinator position is crucial for managing financial and budgetary aspects of the mission in Syria. The role encompasses budgeting, reporting, Coordination, audit support, and team development. The successful candidate will face challenges related to Remote Management and will prioritize donor report submissions, shared cost deployment, and support for bases in Syria and Iraq during the initial months. The position requires a strong understanding of SI tools and Financial Management practices, ensuring that the mission's financial operations align with organizational standards and donor requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Deputy Finance Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of financial and budgetary management tasks. Key responsibilities include updating cash forecasts, managing treasury operations, preparing proposal budgets, and ensuring accurate reporting. The role also involves Capacity Building for team members, managing partnerships, and providing audit support. The Deputy Finance Coordinator will work closely with other departments to ensure financial compliance and effective resource allocation, contributing to the overall success of the mission's programs in Syria and neighboring regions.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration (BBA), or a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Additionally, candidates should have strong technical skills, particularly in Excel and Microsoft Office applications, as well as experience with accounting software. Knowledge of donor requirements, budgeting, and reporting processes is preferred. Strong communication skills are essential for effective collaboration within the team and with external partners.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. This educational foundation is critical for understanding complex financial systems and ensuring compliance with organizational and donor standards.
Experience:
Candidates should have relevant experience in financial management, particularly in a humanitarian or non-profit context. Experience in budgeting, reporting, and audit processes is essential. Familiarity with remote management practices and the ability to work in challenging environments will be advantageous. The role may require previous experience in a similar position or a strong background in finance-related roles.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with donors. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an additional asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with local stakeholders and communities effectively.
Additional Notes:
The position is a short-term contract with a duration of six months, starting on January 2, 2025, with the possibility of extension. The role is based in Syria, and the successful candidate will receive a competitive salary starting from EUR 2,310 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 785 will be provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses for expatriates. The organization offers a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses and provides comfortable living conditions in Amman, with access to various amenities. Breaks are scheduled every three months, along with additional rest days for each month worked.
