Job Overview:
The Deputy Director of the Statistics and Data Directorate (SDD) at the OECD will play a crucial role in supporting the Director in implementing the Organisation’s Programme of Work and Budget. This position requires a dynamic and innovative leader with a strong understanding of the OECD's statistical and data agenda. The Deputy Director will be responsible for advancing the strategic orientations set by the Secretary-General, ensuring the impact of the OECD’s statistical work. This role involves providing strategic direction, managing SDD’s activities, and coordinating with various bodies within the organization. The ideal candidate will exhibit innovative strategic thinking, possess strong leadership skills, and thrive in a multidisciplinary environment, contributing to the development of international statistical standards and methodologies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Deputy Director will have several key responsibilities, including supporting the implementation of the OECD’s Programme of Work and Budget, contributing to the OECD smart data strategy, and ensuring SDD remains at the forefront of statistical practices. The role involves Strategic Planning, oversight of SDD’s activities, and Quality Control of outputs. The Deputy Director will also oversee communication and global relations strategies, represent SDD at high-level meetings, and promote collaboration with other directorates and international organizations. Management responsibilities include participating in recruitment processes, supervising staff, and ensuring high-quality work delivery. The Deputy Director will also assist in the overall management of SDD, contribute to corporate management reforms, and adhere to the OECD's ethical principles.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in statistics, Econometrics, economics, mathematics, or a related discipline. A minimum of 15 years of experience in economic statistics is preferred, ideally gained in government or international organizations. Candidates should have a solid understanding of national and international statistical systems, experience in policy-focused research, and a proven record of conducting relations at a senior level. Strong communication skills, the ability to influence decisions, and proven management skills are essential for this role.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in a relevant field such as statistics, econometrics, economics, or mathematics is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding complex statistical methodologies and Economic Analysis.

Experience:
The position requires at least 15 years of relevant experience in economic statistics, preferably within government or international organizations. Candidates should have significant experience in policy-focused research and the development of statistics that support integrated analyses of social, economic, and environmental policies. A proven track record of engaging with high-level stakeholders and influencing decisions at both national and international levels is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) is mandatory, along with knowledge of the other language and a commitment to achieving a good working level. Knowledge of additional languages would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.

The monthly salary starts at 13,645.46 EUR, plus allowances based on eligibility, and is exempt from French income tax.
