Job Overview:
The Data Visualisation Designer will be an integral part of the IEA’s Energy Technology Policy (ETP) Division, which is dedicated to analyzing the future roles of innovative Clean Energy technologies and their supply chains. This position involves developing new and innovative data-driven content, particularly charts and infographics for reports, as well as interactive content for the IEA website and social Media Platforms. The designer will collaborate closely with ETP analysts to enhance the accessibility and understanding of energy data through effective data storytelling. The role requires strong data literacy, data-gathering, and programming skills, along with a genuine interest in energy and related scientific topics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of the Data Visualisation Designer include collaborating with the ETP team to create compelling visualizations of data and analytical findings for reports, developing visuals for PowerPoint presentations, and producing web and print-ready visuals, animations, and gifs for various platforms. The designer will also research and experiment with new Data Visualization tools, coordinate usability tests of data visualization outputs, and suggest improvements. Participation in the OECD Community of practices on data visualization is expected to stay informed about initiatives and available tools for Data Visualizations.
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess post-secondary education in relevant disciplines such as computer sciences, data sciences, scientific communication, graphic Design, or similar fields. Additionally, at least five years of experience in a scientific, academic, media, or research organization is required, along with a strong portfolio showcasing projects that transform data into insightful visuals. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a dynamic, international, and multi-lingual environment, as well as a keen interest in energy and environmental topics or related fields.
Educational Background:
Candidates should have a post-secondary education preferably in disciplines such as computer sciences, data sciences, scientific communication, graphic design, or similar fields. This educational background is essential to ensure the candidate has the necessary skills and knowledge to perform effectively in the role of Data Visualisation Designer.
Experience:
A minimum of five years of professional experience in a scientific, academic, media, or research organization is required. The candidate should have a proven track record of working in dynamic environments and possess a strong portfolio that demonstrates their ability to create insightful visuals from data. Experience in international and multi-lingual settings is also essential.
Languages:
Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages, English and French, is mandatory, along with knowledge of the other language. The candidate should be committed to achieving a good working level in the second language to facilitate effective communication within the organization.
Additional Notes:
The selection process for this position includes written tests for retained candidates, scheduled for mid-September, followed by interviews planned for late September 2024. The closing date for applications is set for midnight (CEST) on Tuesday, 17th September 2024. The initial contract duration is six months, with salary and conditions dependent on the selected candidate's experience and status (temporary staff or official). The salary is set at T5 Bracket 2, amounting to 3260€/Month.
