Job Description

Under the overall supervision of the MCH/N EPI Cluster Coordinator and the close supervision of the Central PEP/VPD Surveillance Coordinator and the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit focal person, the contract holder will specifically execute the following tasks:
  • Fully responsible for coordinating the WHO EPI Data Management at national and sub-national levels
  • Supervise data management assistants at national and regional levels
  • Supervise and assist the cleaning and arrangement of the polio outbreak response data received by the regional and national data management assistants (surveillance, campaign, vaccine management, independent monitoring and lot quality assurance surveys, etc.)
  • Coordinate, supervise and assist the entry, verification and harmonization of AFP/polio, neonatal tetanus, measles (including line lists of confirmed polio and measles cases during confirmed outbreaks), environmental surveillance, new vaccine and vaccine safety case-based data received by EPHI polio/measles labs and EFDA.
  • Primarily conduct surveillance and immunization data analyses
  • Enters and maps regular risk analyses data for submission by surveillance unit
  • Supervise and assist in preparation and sharing of weekly and monthly case-based surveillance data
  • Ensure that accurate and complete database is available with back up
  • Review and edit the data entered based on the technical supervisor’s feedback
  • Supervise Data Entry, manage the analyses and feedback generation for polio accountability dashboard particularly during outbreak response phases.
  • Assist and supervise the analyses and feedback provision for campaign preparedness
  • Assist in designing templates and analyses of survey and IM data
  • Support M&E, surveillance and RI units to revise active case search, integrated supportive supervision checklists including installation on ODK platforms
  • Monitor and provide feedback to the Cluster Coordinator or relevant unit on the data management needs (e.g. training, devices) of field and central staff
  • Respond to technical units with data analyses requests
  • Attend regular EPI program review update meetings
  • Support the central data management and other teams with data management related tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Essential: First degree in any of the following fields: statistics, demography, health informatics, epidemiology, Public Health or any of the health science fields
  • Desirable:
Experience:
    • Essential: Professional experience: a minimum of 2 years of experience in managing Disease Surveillance and other health &health related data
  • Desirable:
    • Health related data management experience especially in EPI or surveillance (e.g. IDSR, case-based data of polio and measles, HMIS/DHIS-2).
    • Demonstrated data analyses skills using GIS is key.
  • Required Computer skills: Advanced knowledge of Epi Info, Excel, Access, GIS and other Database packages.
  • Language Skill: English language proficiency
Duration
  • 3 months with possibility of renewal depending on funding availability and satisfactory performance.
