Job Overview:
The Data Analyst plays a crucial role within the MEL and Communications team, tasked with extracting meaningful insights from data to support project implementation and reporting. This position involves producing reports and dashboards that meet specific deadlines, as well as providing training and support to colleagues within the organization. The Data Analyst will engage in frequent data research and analysis tailored to the needs of the ALG project, ensuring that data-driven decisions are made effectively. The role requires a strong understanding of data flows and the ability to improve these processes to enhance project outcomes. Additionally, the Data Analyst will be responsible for implementing Data Quality checks and developing validation processes to maintain the integrity of the data collected. The position also involves advanced statistical analyses and the application of Machine Learning techniques to derive deeper insights from the data.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct frequent data research and analysis for the ALG project based on project demands and needs.
  • Support the development and production of quarterly and annual dashboards and data reports using Power BI, Excel, and other tools.
  • Collaborate with ALG staff to map out and improve project data flows.
  • Utilize ALG-generated data to inform reporting and decision-making for programmatic implementation.
  • Implement and oversee data quality checks to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Develop and maintain data validation processes to identify and correct errors.
  • Perform advanced statistical analyses and predictive modeling to support project objectives.
  • Apply machine learning techniques to enhance data insights where applicable.
  • Integrate data from various sources to create comprehensive datasets for analysis. 1
  • Ensure seamless data flow between different systems and databases. 1
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for ALG staff on Data Analysis tools and techniques. 1
  • Develop user-friendly guides and manuals for data-related processes. 1
  • Create interactive and dynamic dashboards using Power BI and other visualization tools. 1
  • Develop custom reports tailored to the needs of different stakeholders, including USAID. 1
  • Prepare and communicate complex data findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders. 1
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent number of years of professional experience.
  • Data analysis experience, preferably with an international donor-funded organization.
  • For candidates with a master’s degree, 6 years of professional work experience is required; for those with a bachelor’s degree, 8 years of relevant technical experience is required.
  • Proven track record of working with organizational data Management Systems and applying data analysis/statistical techniques.
  • Practical experience in data quality and data cleaning practices.
  • Experience in Capacity Building and supporting staff in Data Collection.
  • Practical experience with data collection, reporting, and visualization.
  • Experience in digital transformation and implementing new software/tools.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but equivalent professional experience may be considered. A Master’s degree may reduce the required years of experience for the position.

Experience:
Candidates should have substantial experience in data analysis, particularly within the context of international development projects. A minimum of 6 years of professional experience is required for those with a master’s degree, while candidates with a bachelor’s degree should have at least 8 years of relevant technical experience. Experience with data management systems and statistical techniques is essential, as well as a proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but English and Arabic are mandatory for effective communication within the team and with stakeholders.
