PSI is implements cutting edge programming in Kenya to improve women’s access to vital reproductive Health Services, WASH, Hiv Prevention and treatment, NCDs and malaria programming. For this position, PSI offers both an opportunity to manage and grow our exciting portfolio in Kenya through our network of partners as well as to further develop innovative and relevant programs in the reproductive health sphere. We are looking for a seasoned leader with solid strategy development, new Business Development and relationship management skills and has demonstrated success in multiple complex, multi-cultural work environments.

The Country Team Lead will act as PSI’s senior representative and has overall responsibility and accountability for PSI’s programs. PSI programs in Kenya are mostly implemented through in-country partners across Kenya. As leader of PSI programs in Kenya, the Country Team Lead represents PSI to government, key stakeholders and donors, manage and support staff growth and develops and explore new business opportunities. The Team Lead will also work closely with the PSI Global Operations – Africa, Program Management Team (PMT) and Global Services Office (GSH) in Nairobi to ensure contract compliance, prepare, manage and execute program budgets, support administrative and logistical needs, marketing plans and work plans; ensures adherence to PSI minimum standards; and assures the effective implementation of the program overall.

Your contribution

You will be responsible for the overall development, management (financial, administrative, and programmatic), and representation of PSI’s activities in Kenya. This includes, but is not limited to: • Leadership of a small country program team and GSH based technical team to support programs that are mostly implemented through in-country implementing partners • Oversight of all projects in platform portfolio, including achievements of program deliverables and targets and spending; • Development of annual operational plans together with longer-term strategic plans; • Fundraising for existing and new activities; • External Relations and positioning of PSI with implementing and strategic partners (including PS Kenya), multiple donors, government, NGO, and commercial entities.

• Oversight of internal controls and accountability mechanisms • Program development, including further innovation within existing program areas and expansion into new areas; • Demonstrate and promote an ethical environment, in line with PSI’s values of honesty and acting with integrity; • With support from the GSH, develop and maintain systems that ensure the safety and security of the team and PSI assets in all aspects of its work according to best practices, PSI operating standards and field realities; • Strengthen staff competency and develop management capacity • Support diversity, equity and inclusion in all aspects of PSI’s work.

• Liaise with the Global Security Department and Regional Representative on crucial events, high-risk periods, incident reporting and security policy changes What are we looking for?

The basics.

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience; with minimum of five years Senior Leadership experience in at least one African country; • Relevant post-graduate degree (MBA, MIA, MPH, etc.) or equivalent experience; • Significant experience in partner management, fundraising, personnel management, operational and Financial Management experience preferably in Complex operating environments in Africa, with a technical/ programmatic background; • Demonstrated strengths in strategic organizational leadership; • Knowledge of international development and health issues; • Proven ability to develop and mentor staff; • Familiarity with the international donor community; • Experience working in fragile states and/or situations of political sensitivity.
