The organization operates in approximately twenty countries and employs around 2500 individuals, including expatriates, national staff, and volunteers. Job Overview:
The Country Director is responsible for ensuring high levels of interdepartmental Coordination in managing the mission. This role involves defining strategic support for the country office, focusing on Donor Relations, funding strategies, external representation, managing implementing partners, ensuring compliance, and maintaining donor accountability. The Country Director also serves as the Security Manager for the mission, overseeing all actions taken within the mission. The initial priorities for the first two to three months include security management, implementing strategic plans, and ensuring effective communication and coordination among teams. Given the ongoing conflict in Sudan, the mission's activities and funding have significantly increased, necessitating a strong leadership presence in N'Djamena, where coordination is currently based.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Country Director will oversee the overall management of the mission, ensuring that all activities align with SI's strategic objectives. Responsibilities include managing security protocols, coordinating with various departments, representing SI in high-level donor meetings, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements. The role also involves assessing the needs of affected populations, developing Emergency response strategies, and managing relationships with local and international partners. The Country Director will be responsible for the financial oversight of the mission, ensuring that funds are allocated effectively and transparently. Additionally, the position requires regular reporting to headquarters and maintaining high standards of accountability and transparency in all operations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least three to four years in similar leadership positions. Specific skills required include experience with major donors such as BHA, ECHO, and UN agencies, as well as excellent organizational skills in security management and Analysis. The ability to work under pressure, adaptability, and a strong capacity for initiative are essential for this role. The candidate should also possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage relationships with various stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required, typically including a degree in international relations, humanitarian studies, or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialized training in Humanitarian Assistance or project management may be advantageous.

Experience:
The position requires significant experience in the humanitarian field, specifically in leadership roles that involve strategic planning, donor relations, and Emergency Response management. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing complex projects in challenging environments, particularly in conflict zones.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in French and Arabic is considered a strong asset. The ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages will enhance the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
This is a short-term contract position with a duration of one year, starting as soon as possible. The position is based in N'Djamena, Chad, where living conditions are described as comfortable. The salary is competitive, starting from EUR 3740 gross per month, with additional benefits including a monthly per diem, accommodation coverage, and travel expenses. Expatriates will also receive an insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations. The role includes a structured break system, allowing for time off after periods of work, and the opportunity to engage with a large expatriate community in N'Djamena.
