Job Overview:
The consultant will play a crucial role in the development of technical partnerships and Coordination of grants for the WHO Pandemic and Epidemic Hub. This position is situated within the Health Emergency Intelligence and Surveillance Systems Division (WSE), which is dedicated to building collaborative intelligence systems that enhance decision-making processes to manage public health threats effectively. The consultant will be expected to support the alignment of donor reporting with internal reporting, manage content repositories, facilitate partnership management activities, develop funding proposals, and provide strategic advice to WSE management. The role requires a proactive approach to managing complex projects and engaging with various stakeholders, including governmental and multi-sectoral entities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support alignment of donor reporting with internal reporting, including Program Management and indicator reporting, by developing integrated internal reports, dashboards, and key action and risk tracking reports on a monthly basis.
- Manage Content Management activities, ensuring proper documentation of processes and best practices for content management, with monthly expectations.
- Facilitate partnership management activities with institutional partners, such as Robert Koch Institute and Charite, ensuring effective collaboration and communication on a monthly basis.
- Develop funding proposals and support grant coordination aligned with WSE Division priorities, with monthly deliverables.
- Track the implementation of specific projects and grants, including organizing and preparing for coordination and steering committee meetings, and preparing technical and progress reports on a monthly basis.
- Provide strategic advice to WSE Management to enhance engagement with complex multigovernmental and multisectoral entities, including the European Union and US Government, with monthly expectations.
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced university degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, Health Policy, or Management is essential.
- Over 10 years of relevant experience in program and/or Grants Management and developing partnerships is required.
- Strong project management skills related to high complexity or specialization projects.
- Demonstrated ability to engage substantively at the executive level.
- Knowledge of relevant US Government, EU agencies, and other Collaborative Surveillance donors and stakeholders is essential.
Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, Health Policy, or Management. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of health systems and the management of public health initiatives.
Experience:
The position requires over 10 years of relevant experience in program and/or grants management, as well as experience in developing partnerships. This extensive experience is necessary to navigate the complexities of public health initiatives and to effectively manage relationships with various stakeholders.
Languages:
Expert knowledge of English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly languages relevant to the regions in which WHO operates.
Additional Notes:
The consultancy is expected to last for 11 months, with a remuneration band level C, offering a monthly salary between USD 10,000 - 12,50
- The consultant will be required to travel as part of their duties. This position is home-based, but travel may be necessary for meetings and coordination activities. Candidates should be aware that WHO has a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual exploitation and abuse, and all members of the workforce are expected to adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards. Additionally, candidates must confirm their vaccination status as required by WHO before undertaking any assignments.
