Job Description

Habitat for Humanity International is looking for a qualified consultant to coordinate the organization of the 2021 Europe Housing Forum – a series of European-level housing events in late 2021 in Europe.

Introduction and background

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Since the founding in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has helped more than 22 million people meet their affordable housing needs in more than 70 countries.

HFHI works through a broad network of national Habitat organizations and other strategic partners, such as corporations, financial service providers, individuals, non-governmental organizations, foundations, local governments, as well as the private sector actors. HFHI supports program and Project Implementation by national HFH organizations and directly implements some projects and programs regionally.

Short description of the project

The Europe Housing Forum is a key housing/shelter initiative of the Habitat – Hilti partnership and the main platform for convening among housing stakeholders in Europe coming from two distinct communities/groups of stakeholders: a) development cooperation and b) European housing/shelter stakeholders.

The Europe Housing Forum Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the organization of the 2021 Europe Housing Forum – a series of European-level housing events in late 2021 in Europe.

This consultancy position will maintain and build relationships to support Habitat’s convener role for the Europe Housing Forum. In doing so, this position will coordinate internally with the HFHI team (Internal Advisory Group), as well as with external stakeholders: partners and co-organizers of the Europe Housing Forum (Forum Steering Committee). The incumber will also coordinate and liaise, with peers from other regional forums (LAC, AP, Africa) and within the EMEA internal team.

The preferred location of this position is Brussels or in proximity of EU institutions and networks.

Scope of work and deliverables

The Consultant is expected to: o Serve as the primary liaison and key NGO, government, and donor relationships in regard to the organization of The Europe Housing Forum 2021 events o Serve as the point of Contact CEE/CIS countries, ensuring to keep the Area Vice President and other Area Leadership Team members consulted and updated o Support with the Mapping of key stakeholders to be included as Forum co-organizers o Engage with existing relationships both internally and externally o Attend key Coordination and networking events (in Brussels) for coordination, information gathering and/or networking o Contribute to development and implementation of Europe Housing Forum Event Strategy o Coordinate work of external Steering Group o Coordinate work of internal Advisory Committee o Support the organization of a series of Forum events (Brussels, Warsaw and TBD) Effort

It is expected that the consultant will be working up to 40 hours per week.

Time period for the consultancy

This is a 10 months fixed-term consultancy (expected months: March – December 2021 with a possibility of extension).



o Education: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred o Years of Related Experience: 5 years in International Cooperation, with experience in partnership development, and/or event organization and management o Experience in coordinating diverse stakeholder groups o Experience in coordinating interdepartmental groups o Good understanding of EU institutions and policy frameworks o Good coordination and facilitation skills o Flexibility and working in multi-cultural environment o Fluency in English Preferred:
