Job Overview:
The Consultant for Cultural Heritage and Creative Industries will play a pivotal role in managing a project aimed at assessing the impact on heritage and creative industries, developing an action plan for recovery, and raising awareness about the importance of protecting cultural heritage. The position requires effective Coordination with various stakeholders, including national researchers, government partners, and international experts, ensuring that project activities are executed timely and meet UNESCO's standards for visibility and operational integrity. The Consultant will oversee the research process, manage contracts and budgets, and handle Logistics for international experts, ensuring that all project components are implemented effectively in the field, particularly in Dhaka and Mymensingh.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Consultant will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the implementation of the project’s components in the field. This includes serving as the primary contact point between UNESCO Dhaka and national researchers, managing relationships with government agencies, and facilitating Data Collection and consultations. The Consultant will also be tasked with monitoring project activities, ensuring compliance with timelines and deliverables, managing contracts and budgets, and organizing events and workshops. Additionally, the Consultant will ensure effective communication and visibility of the project, support other projects as needed, and report on progress to the Head of Culture Programme.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 1-5 years of relevant experience in Project Management, preferably within the cultural or heritage sector. Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or government bodies is essential, particularly in managing multi-stakeholder projects. Proven experience in coordinating research, managing contracts and budgets, and organizing events at the national or international level is also required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills in both English and Bangla are necessary, along with proficiency in MS Office and project management software.
Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Cultural Heritage Management, Social Sciences, International Development, Anthropology, Archaeology, Arts, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of cultural heritage and the creative industries, as well as for effectively managing projects in these areas.
Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 1-5 years of relevant experience in project management, particularly in the cultural or heritage sector. This experience should include working with international organizations, NGOs, or government bodies, and managing multi-stakeholder projects. Candidates should also have experience in coordinating research, managing contracts and budgets, and organizing events and workshops at various levels.
Languages:
Fluency in both English and Bangla is mandatory for this position. Strong writing and reporting skills in English are essential, as the Consultant will be responsible for drafting reports and correspondence. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes:
The position is offered on a full-time consultant basis for a duration of 11-12 months, with the possibility of extension based on project performance and funding availability. The monthly remuneration for this role ranges from 80,000 to 100,000 BDT, depending on the candidate's experience. Regular coordination meetings will be held to review progress and address any challenges that arise during the project.
