Job Description

  Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Associate Admin Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Compound Manager Associate will undertake the following tasks:
  • Manage the accommodation facilities by assigning rooms to guests and maintain a list of guests in the compound.
  • Ensure accommodation facilities are cleaned on daily basis.
  • Ensure the bathrooms are maintained cleaned on daily basis
  • Manage the store with cleaning equipment and supplies and advice Administration on procurement of cleaning supplies.
  • Ensure the maintenance of office equipment /installation and machinery in the compound i.e. Generators, laundry machines/ water purification system/borehole and kitchen equipment.
  • Assist by supervising directly on a day to day basis the water technician /plumber, Generator technician and the handy man/gardener
  • Maintain a daily attendance record of casuals engaged for a specific task
  • Ensure that the General compound both International and National are clean and trash bins are emptied on a daily basis.
  • When working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-)governmental counterparts, including Implementing Partners (IPs), the incumbent is strongly encouraged to set aside dedicated time for Capacity Development through coaching, mentoring and formal and on-the-job training;
  • Perform related duties as may be required.
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments: Required experience: 36 Months Experience remark:
  • At least 3 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in Administrative experience in office premises or guesthouse management or other relevant programmes; working experience with UN or other international development organization and NGOs is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with Database Management; and office technology equipment;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Desirable: valid national driver’s license and proven ability to drive manual gear 4x4 over rough terrain; (if not applicable, delete)
  • Sound security awareness;
  • Have affinity with or interest in volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
Language skills:
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • Arabic(Optional), Level - Working Knowledge
Area of expertise: Facility, camp and compound maintenance and management, Inventory, asset and warehouse management, Other premises management/maintenance, supply, or purchasing related experience Area of expertise details:
  • The incumbent must be a dynamic, multi-functional person, who supports UNHCR with professionalism, dedication and client orientation.
  • Computer proficiency with good knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and Ms Access is Essential.
  • Excellent knowledge of English (written / oral / comprehension) is essential. Working knowledge of another UN language (preferably Arabic) is an asset.
