Job Posting Organization:The Nigeria INGO Forum (NIF) was established in 2014 to facilitate collaboration among international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) in Nigeria for humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding efforts. It serves as a vital platform for information sharing, advocacy, and engagement with authorities, donors, and the UN, ensuring the inclusion of INGO perspectives and those of affected populations in decision-making. Governed by a core membership of 59 members and 9 observers, it operates under a Steering Committee comprised of five Country Directors and a Chair, supported by a Secretariat. Since October 2024, the INGO Forum is administratively hosted by Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Nigeria’s capital city of Abuja as well as Maiduguri.
Job Overview:
The Nigeria INGO Forum (NIF) is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Communications Technical Assistant to join its team in Abuja, Federal Capital. This position is crucial for the implementation of the NIF Social Media Strategy and involves managing NIF’s online and social media channels. The Communications Technical Assistant will also support the organization of events and the development of various NIF communications products. This role requires a proactive individual who is committed to helping refugees and those forced to flee, and who can effectively contribute to the NIF Policy and Communication team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Technical Assistant will be responsible for implementing the NIF Social Media Strategy and managing the organization's social Media Platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and YouTube. Key duties include creating and uploading content, monitoring audience engagement, assisting in event preparation and branding, drafting and editing communication products such as weekly updates, newsletters, and annual reports, writing stories and reports, tracking projects and media exposure, supporting the development of audio-visual materials, organizing the clearance and distribution of visibility materials, and performing other relevant duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communication, Humanities, English, or any other relevant fields. They should demonstrate a good knowledge of social media for communication outreach, possess strong verbal, written, and analytical skills, and have the ability to write clearly and concisely. Strong time management skills and attention to detail are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and related computer skills. Knowledge of the social media landscape in Nigeria is important, and professional photography skills are considered a plus. The ability to work independently and collaboratively is also required.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Public Relations, Communication, Humanities, English, or any other relevant fields is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively communicate and engage with various stakeholders.
Experience:
Candidates should have experience in Coordination within a humanitarian or recovery context, as well as experience working in complex and volatile environments. Documented results in related responsibilities are also important, indicating the candidate's ability to perform effectively in this role.
Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory. Additionally, fluency in one or more languages spoken in North-West Nigeria, particularly Hausa, is considered an advantage and is highly desirable for this position.

This position is based in Abuja, Nigeria, and is open to Nigerian nationals only. The grade level for this position is Grade 4, and it reports to the Media and Communications Adviser of the INGO Forum. There is no travel required for this role.
