Job Overview:
The Communications Manager will play a pivotal role in leading strategic communications for CARE's largest program, Strive Women. This position is designed for a passionate professional who will oversee communications activities across the program and provide support to country teams in Pakistan, Peru, and Vietnam. The role involves managing communications campaigns, events, and Digital Media, as well as contributing to program knowledge management. The successful candidate will work remotely within a dynamic global team and will be expected to engage with colleagues across various time zones, particularly during the hours of 13:00 to 17:00 GMT. The position offers flexibility, with options for part-time (60%-80%) or full-time roles, and requires candidates to have the right to work in their country of residence without sponsorship.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Manager will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: 1. Strategic Communications (50%): Refreshing the program communications strategy annually, reviewing and updating program communications materials and data every six months, monitoring and analyzing communication metrics, liaising with research and learning colleagues, drafting and editing copy for program webpages, collaborating with country communications colleagues, leading communications activities at global team events, tracking social media presence, and ensuring effective storage of communications content. 2. External Stakeholder Engagement & Public Relations (25%): Creating impactful content for media and advocacy, developing targeted media lists, updating stakeholder databases, writing press releases and blogs, pitching content to media, managing program social media accounts, and leading logistics for events. 3. Knowledge Management (15%): Synthesizing evaluation and research findings into guidance materials, managing relationships with communications forums, and supporting the Strive Women Director in Content Development for key events. 4. Streamlining Communications across Women’s Entrepreneurship (10%): Developing and standardizing communication materials across multiple programs.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field. They should have a minimum of five to ten years of relevant experience in communications, with a strong emphasis on media relations, Digital Marketing, and content creation. Proficiency in social media management and content Management Systems is essential, along with excellent professional writing and verbal communication skills for both technical and general audiences. Experience in transforming technical documents into accessible External Communications is also required, as well as the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or Journalism is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for effective communication and public relations strategies.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have between five to ten years of relevant experience in communications. This experience should include a proven track record in media relations, digital marketing, and content creation, as well as familiarity with managing communications for donor requirements. The ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously is crucial for success in this role.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in at least one other language is required, with Spanish being strongly preferred. This linguistic capability is essential for effective communication with diverse stakeholders and audiences.

This is a remote position, allowing for flexibility in work hours and location.
