Job Overview:
The Cleaner position at NRC involves maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in various facilities, including offices and guest houses. The role requires adherence to established policies and procedures, ensuring that all cleaning tasks are performed to the highest standards. The Cleaner will be responsible for managing cleaning supplies, maintaining equipment, and ensuring that all areas are safe and sanitary. This position is crucial in creating a welcoming environment for staff and guests, contributing to the overall mission of NRC to provide quality support to those in need. The Cleaner will also be expected to assist guests with their needs, ensuring a high level of service and satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Cleaner will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: ensuring compliance with hygiene standards and procedures; cleaning and maintaining offices according to a work schedule; managing cleaning supplies and notifying supervisors of any shortages; maintaining cleanliness in guest houses and outdoor areas; caring for green spaces, including mowing lawns and trimming flowers; dusting and polishing furniture; cleaning installations and surfaces; emptying and sanitizing trash bins; cleaning sinks, mirrors, bathtubs, and showers; making beds and changing linens as needed; ironing, sorting, folding, and storing clean laundry; assisting guests with food preparation and ensuring quality and hygiene; washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen; replacing dirty linens with clean ones; storing dirty laundry according to company policy; delivering requested cleaning items to guest rooms; maintaining all cleaning and cooking equipment in safe and sanitary condition; keeping maintenance logs and reporting any damages; Monitoring and Reporting necessary repairs; ensuring confidentiality and Security of guest rooms; following all NRC safety procedures; and performing any other tasks assigned by the supervisor related to the position.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a secondary school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for prior experience in housekeeping or guest services. Knowledge of cleaning products, techniques, and sanitation methods is essential, along with familiarity with cleaning sensitive materials. Practical knowledge of cleaning equipment operation, such as lawnmowers and garden shears, is also required. Candidates should demonstrate physical endurance and mobility, including the ability to reach, kneel, and bend as necessary.
Educational Background:
A secondary school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Additional training or certifications in cleaning or hospitality services may be advantageous but are not mandatory.
Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in housekeeping or a similar role, demonstrating a solid understanding of cleaning practices and standards. Experience in a guest service environment is preferred, as it will enhance the ability to meet the needs of guests effectively.
Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Cameroon. Proficiency in English is considered a good asset, as it may facilitate communication with international staff and guests.
Additional Notes:
This position offers a 12-month renewable contract based on funding availability. The work location is Yaoundé, with approximately 2% of the role involving field travel. The salary is based on Grade 1, Step 1 of the NRC Cameroon salary scale. The desired start date for this position is December 202
