The organization is committed to a mission of helping those in need, advocating for their rights, and ensuring their access to essential services. With thousands of employees worldwide, the IRC focuses on various sectors including health, education, and economic wellbeing, aiming to restore safety, dignity, and hope to those affected by conflict and disaster.

Job Overview:
The Casework Supervisor for the Home Study and Post-Release Services (HSPRS) program plays a crucial role in overseeing the delivery of services to unaccompanied children in the U.S. This position is part of a significant national initiative that is expanding rapidly, with the goal of ensuring the safety and well-being of children placed with sponsors. The Casework Supervisor will provide trauma-informed supervision to a team of caseworkers, ensuring they are equipped to assess the suitability of sponsors and provide ongoing support to children and families. The role involves monitoring service provision, ensuring compliance with best practices, and maintaining high-quality standards in case management. The supervisor will also be responsible for data monitoring, reporting, and facilitating communication among team members, all while fostering a collaborative work environment, even in a hybrid setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Casework Supervisor will be responsible for supervising a team of four to six caseworkers, providing guidance and support in their case management duties. Key responsibilities include advising Crisis Case Managers on complex cases, monitoring the accuracy and timeliness of case documentation, and ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures. The supervisor will act as a point of escalation for staff dealing with challenging cases and will liaise with child welfare and Law enforcement agencies as necessary. Regular professional development will be provided to case managers, and the supervisor will maintain accurate records in electronic case files. Monthly reports will be written to keep the Regional Manager informed about service delivery metrics, trends, and challenges. Building relationships with community service providers and maintaining a referral network will also be essential. The supervisor will ensure that all staff are updated on policy changes and will convene regular team meetings to promote teamwork and communication.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a master’s degree in behavioral sciences, human services, or Social Services, or a bachelor’s degree with at least three years of relevant experience demonstrating supervisory and case management skills. A minimum of one year of supervisory experience is required, along with experience in providing Home Study and Post-Release Services case management. Strong analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication abilities, and a proven track record of managing complex client situations are essential. Knowledge of social service systems and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment are also required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to travel independently are necessary for this role.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a master’s degree in a relevant field such as behavioral sciences, human services, or social services. Alternatively, candidates with a bachelor’s degree accompanied by significant relevant experience (at least three years) may also be considered. This educational background is critical to ensure that the supervisor has the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively oversee case management and support staff in their roles.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of one year of supervisory experience, which should include oversight of program operations, case review, and compliance monitoring. Candidates should have experience in providing Home Study and Post-Release Services case management, demonstrating their ability to handle the complexities involved in working with unaccompanied children and their sponsors. Experience in a similar role within a social services context is highly desirable.

Languages:
While the job description does not specify mandatory languages, proficiency in English is essential for effective communication. Additional language skills may be beneficial, particularly in languages commonly spoken by the populations served, to enhance communication and service delivery.

Additional Notes:
This position is part of a 36-month contract and involves a combination of office work, remote work, and travel for home visits and meetings. The working environment may require flexibility, including non-traditional hours such as evenings and weekends. Compensation is competitive and based on various factors, including the labor market and individual candidate experience.
