Job Description

Fixed term contract for 10 months (with potential for extension/permanency) We are looking for an experienced and committed individual to join us as Business Development Team Lead. Initially for circa 10 months (with potential for extension/permanency) you will Report to the Head of Business Development. You will lead and manage one of the two halves of the Business Development team, comprising Business Development Managers and a Pricing Manager. You’ll enable them to play their key role in resourcing Save the Children’s global strategies, translating our largest, most exciting and most complex international development and humanitarian funding opportunities into programmes which deliver impact at scale for children. To do that you’ll be coaching and supporting your direct reports to lead the development of associated programmes and bids/proposals, with a particular focus on £multi-million institutional opportunities including commercial contracts, and other competitive funding opportunities from funders such as FCDO and the World Bank.

You’ll own and cultivate some key strategic relationships. In conjunction with the other Team Lead and Head of the BD team, you’ll network widely with potential consortium partners, consultants and potential project team staff to position SC UK as a “Go to” partner for relevant opportunities. You’ll also work closely with our funding counterparts in Regional and Country offices, while working with colleagues across Save the Children to build capacity in Business Development.

To be successful you’ll be a very established Business Development Professional with a significant track record of winning large competitive funding opportunities. You’ll know what it takes to develop winning partnerships and consortia. You’ll be experienced in negotiating business and management arrangements and negotiating commercial arrangements. You’ll know how to effectively lead, manage and coach your team for high performance. And of coursed you’ll be an effective influencer, working at a strategic level, able to use and articulate complex financial and risk information to inform organisational decision making.
