Job Overview:
The Associate Vice President, Development position is crucial for the American Heart Association's Fundraising efforts, particularly for the Houston Go Red for Women campaign. This role involves advising and collaborating with various stakeholders, including internal staff, corporations, and community leaders, to enhance fundraising efficiency and effectiveness. The individual will be responsible for revenue generation and Community Development activities, managing top corporate accounts, securing sponsorships, and recruiting Volunteer leadership. The fundraising goal for this campaign is set at $1.5 million for 2025, with an ambitious target of $3 million by 202

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Vice President, Development include:
- Collaborating with the VP of Development for Houston to implement strategies for year-over-year revenue growth through mission impact opportunities and Strategic Partnerships.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with volunteer leaders through active stewardship and cultivation.
- Creating actionable plans to achieve fundraising and health goals aligned with the AHA's mission.
- Managing the Executive Leadership Team for the Go Red for Women campaign, including recruitment and engagement of C-suite volunteers.
- Sustaining existing corporate and community partnerships while developing new relationships with affluent individual donors and foundations.
- Cultivating major donors and securing large corporate sponsorships.
- Ensuring compliance with AHA policies and procedures while leading the campaign team.
- Participating in and leading top-level cultivation strategies and engagements.
- Leading and coaching a team of fundraisers, including recruitment, training, and Performance Management. 1
- Regularly communicating with the team to review progress towards individual and campaign goals, recommending adjustments as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of successful experience in non-profit fundraising or a similar field.
- At least 3 years of managerial experience, preferably with a sales or fundraising team in a comparable organization.
- Proven experience in managing and cultivating relationships with high-level leaders at the C-suite level.
- Direct knowledge of special event fundraising tactics is essential.
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel within the Houston area daily.
- A strong understanding of philanthropic communities and how to engage with them.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
- Physical capability to lift and/or move large objects, with the understanding that assistance may be needed for heavier items.
Educational Background:
Candidates are expected to have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, which provides a foundational understanding of the principles of fundraising, non-profit management, and Community Engagement.
