  Parent Sector : Division of Public Information (DPI) Duty Station: Paris Job Family: Public Information Type of contract : Non Staff Duration of contract : From 1 to 6 months Recruitment open to : External candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 17/03/2021 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Media Services and the direct supervision of the Social Media and Web Coordinator, and in liaison with the Futures of Learning and Innovation Team, the consultant shall:
  • Produce social media content for UNESCO’s main social media channels - namely Twitter, Instagram and Facebook in English and/or French and/or Spanish. This would include following trending topics on social Media Platforms; drafting narrative text for social media and storytelling through images and video; analyzing reactions from various communities on social media; and engaging with care.
  • Contribute to social media campaigns by working closely with the Futures of Learning and Innovation team focal point(s).
  • Participate in relevant strategic meetings for ongoing enhancement of UNESCO’s social media and web outreach.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with colleagues involved in the Social Media Platforms of the other UNESCO official languages and will contribute to the development of UNESCO content in short video form.
  • Produce reports based on the analytics of UNESCO's posts and campaigns on social media.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the framework of UNESCO's social media and web platforms.

  • A university Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, communications, Marketing, media or social science or related field is required or equivalent post-secondary school studies in a certificate or degree program.

  • A minimum of two years experience in managing social media accounts and creating content is required.
  • Experience working with and on diverse social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube.
  • Experience in social reporting, analyzing native metrics, creating reports, adjusting strategy and making results-based recommendations.

  • Excellent writing skills, capable of writing simply with a conversational style.
  • Strong attention to detail, great time management skills, and proven ability to work in a highly organized way and meet deadlines.
  • Personable team player who thrives on working in a diverse team.

  • Fluency in English and good knowledge of French are required. Working knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
  • Creativity and capacity to convert complex topics into easy-to-understand content adapted for social media.
  • Experience in producing high quality web content and web stories; and in supporting an editorial team in ensuring publishing of web content.
  • Experience with image editing software such as Photoshop and/or Illustrator.
  • Experience with video editing software (such as Premier) and online video editing platforms such as Wibbitz, Lumen5, Wochit, or similar.
  • Experience in social Media Management tools, such as Hootsuite, and online collaboration tools, such as Trello.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment and working with colleagues across different regions and time zones.
