Job Overview:
The position of Asistente Técnico – Finanzas is crucial for supporting the daily financial and accounting operations of the NRC office in Darién. The role involves ensuring compliance with NRC policies and guidelines, assisting in the implementation of financial support functions, and preparing necessary reports for management. The assistant will be responsible for maintaining proper documentation, promoting ideas to enhance support functions, and overseeing all financial, accounting, and administrative actions within the office. Familiarity with NRC's global and local financial tools is essential, as is the ability to apply internal controls in accordance with NRC's financial policies and manuals. The assistant will also engage in socializing administrative and financial procedures, processing accounting transactions, and supporting regional accounting closures and monthly reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Asistente Técnico – Finanzas will have a range of responsibilities, including: ensuring adherence to NRC policies and guidelines; supporting the implementation of the financial support portfolio according to the action plan; preparing and developing status reports for management; maintaining proper filing of documents; promoting ideas to strengthen support functions; assisting in the planning and monitoring of all financial, accounting, and administrative actions; managing financial and accounting tools used by NRC; applying internal control measures in accordance with NRC policies; processing accounting transactions and responding to generated documents; supporting regional accounting closures and preparing monthly reports; assisting during administrative and financial audits; maintaining organized and updated financial files; processing payments to suppliers and contractors; monitoring cash flow to suppliers; performing bank reconciliations; and attending designated meetings and field visits while adhering to safety protocols.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of one year of relevant work experience in support functions within humanitarian contexts. Previous experience in complex and changing environments is essential, along with demonstrable experience related to the responsibilities of the position. Basic knowledge of the English language is required. Candidates should also have a background in accounting, finance, business Administration, or related fields, with at least one year of proven experience in a similar role. Strong knowledge of Colombian accounting and tax regulations is necessary, as well as proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly advanced Excel skills.
Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should be a technologist or a student in the final semesters of Public Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields. A solid educational foundation in accounting principles and Financial Regulations is essential for this role.
Experience:
The position requires at least one year of proven experience in a similar role, particularly in support functions within humanitarian contexts. Candidates should have experience working in complex environments and be able to demonstrate their ability to handle the responsibilities outlined in the job description.
Languages:
Proficiency in Spanish is mandatory, and basic knowledge of English is desirable. Candidates who are fluent in English will have an advantage in the selection process.
