Job Overview:
The Infrastructure Engineer position at the World Bank involves a critical role in managing and enhancing the IT infrastructure across various Country Offices (COs). This position is integral to ensuring that the World Bank Group's mission of ending extreme poverty and boosting shared prosperity is supported through effective technology solutions. The Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of infrastructure changes, ensuring compliance with global standards, and maintaining high-quality operations. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in IT infrastructure and project management skills, as the engineer will be tasked with designing, implementing, and managing IT facilities, including network connectivity and AV systems. The position also involves collaboration with various teams to ensure that the infrastructure meets the operational needs of the organization while adhering to budgetary constraints and timelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Infrastructure Engineer will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • **Network Infrastructure Design & Facility Upgrades**: Designing and implementing upgrades to IT facilities, including power, cooling, racks, and structured cabling. This includes producing layout drawings and implementation plans, as well as designing LAN/WAN topologies to ensure secure and reliable connectivity.
  • **Connectivity Operations & Performance Analysis**: Owning the operational monitoring of regional links, analyzing trends, identifying chronic issues, and coordinating remediation efforts with ISPs. This also involves managing tasks related to link provisioning, upgrades, migrations, and cancellations.
  • **Procurement & Vendor Management**: Preparing procurement packages for links and infrastructure equipment, leading vendor engagements to evaluate new products, and ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
  • **AV/VC Participation in Implementation & Quality Assurance**: Applying infrastructure standards across COs and performing compliance reviews to remediate any gaps.
  • **Agile Participation**: Engaging in daily stand-ups and biweekly iteration planning to prioritize tasks and manage operational incidents effectively. Success metrics for this role include timely delivery of office setups, link uptime, vendor SLA compliance, and stakeholder satisfaction scores.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience in IT. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in infrastructure facility design, network link analysis, and standards application. Proficiency in business coordination, procurement package development, and vendor evaluation is also essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate agile proficiency, particularly in backlog management and incident tracking.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree in a relevant field is required, with a preference for candidates who have specialized training in IT infrastructure, network engineering, or a related discipline. A Bachelor’s degree may be acceptable if accompanied by significant relevant experience.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience for candidates with a Master’s degree, or 8+ years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience should include hands-on work in IT infrastructure management, project management, and vendor relations, with a strong emphasis on network design and compliance auditing.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. While additional languages are not specified as mandatory, proficiency in other languages may be considered an asset, particularly in regions where the World Bank operates.
