Job Overview: The logistics-manager" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Manager will play a crucial role in managing WHO's emergency responselogistics operations across multiple locations, including Gaza, Jerusalem, and Cairo. This position requires active participation in the overall management of WHO's emergency response, ensuring the effective integration of logistics operations into the health cluster's strategy. The incumbent will be responsible for planning and executing the timely provision of quality equipment and consumables to support emergency operations, thereby reducing the impact of crises on health systems and populations. The role involves establishing partnerships and coordinating logistics responses at the national level, ensuring compliance with WHO standards and procedures. The Logistics Manager will lead a field team, manage supply chain operations, and oversee the establishment of field offices and telecommunication networks, all while ensuring the safety and well-being of WHO staff and responders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Logistics Manager will carry out a comprehensive set of duties, including:
Participating in the management of WHO's emergency response by providing strategic logistics support to the Incident Manager.
Planning and overseeing the transportation, delivery, and storage of operational support supplies for emergency operations.
Liaising with officials for customs clearance and adapting inventory management systems.
Supervising stockpiles of essential emergency equipment and supporting national distribution plans.
Coordinating with the WHO Administrative Officer to establish field offices and ensure adequate transportation means.
Managing health logistics to support mobile health activities and ensuring health facilities are equipped to standard.
Collaborating with the security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Field Security Officer to ensure the safety of WHO team members.
Conducting field assessments to monitor supply management and storage conditions.
Performing any other related duties as required by the functional supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in public or business administration, logistics management, engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution. Professional certifications in transport, distribution, or supply chain management are desirable. Knowledge of information management systems related to logistics is also beneficial. Candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. A strong understanding of WHO's mandate in emergency management is essential.
Educational Background: The position requires a university degree in a relevant field such as public or business administration, logistics management, or engineering. Additional qualifications, such as professional certifications in logistics or supply chain management, are highly desirable. Training in information management systems related to logistics is also beneficial for this role.
Experience: Candidates should have at least seven years of related experience in managing emergency logistics operations and supply chain management at both national and international levels. Experience in supporting emergency humanitarian operations is essential, with a preference for candidates who have worked with WHO, UN agencies, or recognized humanitarian organizations. Knowledge of customs administration and import/export processes is also desirable.
Languages: Expert knowledge of English is essential for this position. Intermediate knowledge of Arabic is desirable, as it will facilitate communication in the regions where the Logistics Manager will operate.
Additional Notes: This position may involve working in multiple locations, including Gaza, Jerusalem, and Cairo. The role is subject to WHO's Staff Regulations and may require candidates to undergo a background verification process. The remuneration package includes an annual base salary starting at USD 86,027, along with a variable post adjustment reflecting the cost of living. Additional benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
