Job Overview: The National Consultant for Fund Grant Cycle 8 (GC8) Malaria Funding will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of malaria funding initiatives. This position involves providing expert advice and consultancy services to ensure effective management and utilization of funds allocated for malaria prevention and control. The consultant will be expected to engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to facilitate the smooth execution of malaria-related projects. The consultant will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the impact of funded initiatives, ensuring that they align with national and international health strategies. The assignment is set for a period of 25 consultancy days, spanning from April 20 to July 25, 2026, during which the consultant will be expected to deliver high-quality outputs that contribute to the overall goals of the malaria funding program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of malaria funding initiatives.
Collaborate with government and non-governmental organizations to identify priority areas for malaria intervention.
Develop and review project proposals and budgets related to malaria funding.
Monitor the progress of funded projects, ensuring compliance with UNDP guidelines and standards.
Conduct field visits to assess the effectiveness of malaria interventions and gather data for reporting purposes.
Prepare comprehensive reports on project outcomes and recommendations for future funding cycles.
Facilitate training and capacity-building workshops for stakeholders involved in malaria prevention and control.
Engage in advocacy efforts to promote awareness and mobilize resources for malaria initiatives.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and develop effective solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Familiarity with UNDP procurement processes and guidelines is an asset.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in Public Health, International Development, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in project management or health financing will be considered an advantage.
Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in health program management, with a specific focus on malaria or similar public health initiatives. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in a consultancy capacity, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in local languages spoken in Zimbabwe is an asset and will be considered a plus for effective communication with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This consultancy position is part-time, with a total of 25 consultancy days allocated for the assignment. The consultant will be expected to work remotely and may need to travel within Zimbabwe for field assessments. The contract duration is from April 20 to July 25, 2026, and compensation will be based on the consultant's qualifications and experience.
