Job Overview: The UN Volunteer position is designed to support the Strategic Advisor in the UNDP Yemen Country Office, particularly in the Amman Liaison Office (ALO). The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of donor reports, proposals, and knowledge products. This role emphasizes a collaborative, client-focused approach that prioritizes quality and results. The volunteer will engage in various tasks, including reviewing donor reports for compliance with guidelines, applying Results-Based Management principles, and maintaining a reporting calendar. The position also involves data collection and analysis to demonstrate progress against portfolio objectives, as well as facilitating communication with stakeholders and supporting the management of events and publications.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UN Volunteer will undertake a variety of duties, including:
Reviewing and quality assuring narrative and financial donor reports to ensure compliance with specific donor guidelines and templates.
Supporting the application of Results-Based Management principles, log frames, and indicators to report on outputs, outcomes, and impacts in donor reports.
Maintaining a reporting calendar and collaborating with the Strategic Advisor and Partnerships Officer to ensure timely submission of required reports.
Collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing data from monitoring and evaluation systems, project teams, and partners to demonstrate progress against portfolio objectives.
Assisting in the review of thematic concept notes as needed.
Supporting UNDP Yemen with the Yemen Partners Group and Yemen Partner Technical Team meetings.
Coordinating with the Partnerships Office and Communications Team Lead to ensure smooth operations of the ALO.
Liaising with project teams and stakeholders to gather necessary information, data, and documentation for reporting.
Providing backstopping support to the Strategic Advisor, Partnerships Officer, and Communications Team Lead as required. 1
Documenting lessons learned, best practices, and success stories to inform future programming. 1
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate strong accountability, adaptability, creativity, judgment, decision-making, planning, organizing, professionalism, and self-management skills. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Strong communication skills are essential, as the volunteer will be required to liaise with various stakeholders and present information clearly and effectively.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background is required, typically including a degree in social sciences, international relations, development studies, or a related field. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of development issues and the operational context of UNDP's work.
Experience: The position requires prior experience in project management, monitoring and evaluation, or a related field. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in international development settings, preferably with UN agencies or NGOs. Experience in report writing and data analysis is highly desirable, as well as familiarity with Results-Based Management principles.
Languages: The official language of Jordan is Arabic, and proficiency in English is mandatory, as it is widely spoken and used in professional settings. Knowledge of additional languages such as French, German, Italian, or Spanish is considered an asset, although not required.
Additional Notes: This is a volunteer position with a monthly living allowance of $2707.35, a one-time entry lump sum of $4000, and access to annual and learning leaves. Volunteers will receive free medical and life insurance, as well as free access to various learning platforms.
