The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global organization that operates in nearly 170 countries and territories. Established to help eradicate poverty and reduce inequality and exclusion, UNDP focuses on developing policies, enhancing leadership skills, and building institutional capabilities. The organization plays a crucial role in advancing the global sustainable development agenda, particularly through the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which aims to address various global challenges over the next 15 years. UNDP's mission encompasses three main areas: sustainable development, democratic governance and peacebuilding, and climate and disaster resilience. The organization is committed to protecting human rights and empowering marginalized groups, including women and minorities, in all its activities.

Job Overview:
This position involves supporting the UNDP Crisis Bureau in advancing gender equality in crisis response and recovery efforts. The selected online volunteer will be responsible for developing two PowerPoint presentations that will enhance knowledge sharing and capacity building on gender-responsive crisis recovery. The work directly supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16, which focuses on peace, justice, and strong institutions, and SDG 5, which emphasizes gender equality. The presentations will serve as vital tools for UNDP’s Crisis Bureau, country offices, and partner organizations engaged in gender-responsive recovery work, thereby contributing to a deeper understanding of the gender dimensions of conflict and recovery efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The online volunteer will undertake the following responsibilities:
  • Develop a PowerPoint presentation for the Gender and Recovery Toolkit Training, which will summarize the toolkit's core components and translate key concepts into an accessible format for capacity building.
  • Create a PowerPoint presentation for the Annual Women, Peace, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security (WPS) Report, which will highlight UNDP's progress, challenges, and initiatives in advancing the Women, Peace, and Security agenda. This presentation should visually represent data, case studies, and policy recommendations from the report in a clear and impactful manner. The volunteer will need to ensure that both presentations are engaging and effectively communicate the intended messages to various stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong skills in PowerPoint presentation development, with a proven ability to create visually appealing and informative presentations. Familiarity with gender issues, crisis response, and recovery efforts is highly desirable. The volunteer should also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex information in an understandable manner. Additionally, the ability to work independently and meet deadlines is essential for this role.

Educational Background:
While specific educational qualifications are not explicitly stated, a background in social sciences, gender studies, international development, or a related field would be beneficial for understanding the context of the work. Relevant coursework or training in presentation design and development would also be advantageous.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have prior experience in creating presentations, particularly in the context of gender issues or development work. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs, especially in roles related to gender equality, crisis response, or recovery efforts, would be a significant asset. The ability to synthesize information from reports and other materials into concise and engaging presentations is crucial.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as all presentations and communications will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to UNDP's work in various countries, would be considered a plus but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This is a remote volunteer position, and the deadline for application is not specified. The role is expected to be part-time, with flexibility in hours depending on the volunteer's availability. The position does not mention any specific compensation, but volunteers may gain valuable experience and contribute to meaningful work in the field of gender equality and crisis recovery.
