Job Overview:
The position involves providing consultancy services as Biomedical Engineers, specifically tasked with offering technical support and inputs regarding medical equipment that is to be procured and installed. The consultants will play a crucial role in ensuring that the medical equipment meets the necessary standards and requirements for effective healthcare delivery. This role is vital in enhancing the capacity of healthcare facilities by ensuring that they are equipped with the right technology and tools to provide quality medical services. The Biomedical Engineers will work closely with various stakeholders, including healthcare providers and procurement teams, to ensure that the equipment is suitable for the intended medical applications and complies with international standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Biomedical Engineers will be responsible for a range of duties including but not limited to: assessing the technical specifications of medical equipment to be purchased; providing expert advice on the selection of appropriate medical devices; conducting evaluations of existing medical equipment to determine their functionality and compliance with health standards; collaborating with procurement teams to ensure that all equipment meets the required specifications; preparing detailed reports and documentation regarding the technical aspects of the equipment; training healthcare staff on the proper use and maintenance of medical devices; and ensuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with UNDP policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in biomedical engineering or a related field. They should have a comprehensive understanding of medical equipment and its applications in healthcare settings. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate proficiency in technical assessments and evaluations of medical devices. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams are essential. Candidates should also have excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Technology, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or higher qualification in a relevant discipline will be considered an asset. Candidates should have formal training in medical equipment management and maintenance, as well as certifications related to biomedical engineering practices.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in biomedical engineering or a related field, with a proven track record of working with medical equipment in healthcare environments. Experience in procurement processes and technical evaluations of medical devices is highly desirable. Familiarity with international health standards and regulations governing medical equipment is also important.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all documentation and communication will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage, as it may facilitate communication with local stakeholders and healthcare providers. Proficiency in other languages may also be beneficial but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration will be specified upon selection. The position is full-time and requires the consultants to be available for the duration of the project. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
