The consultant will support the implementation of the TiSSTAT system in selected countries, focusing on training and institutional capacity building. The role requires the consultant to provide comprehensive documentation, progress reports, and actionable recommendations to ensure the system operates effectively and meets user requirements. The consultant will work under the supervision of the project officer - STAT 1, engaging in various tasks that include testing the system, reviewing questionnaires, and participating in technical workshops.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's duties include:
Testing the TiSSTAT system, including existing features and newly developed features in version 1.6, using both prepared and simulated data.
Reviewing and suggesting adjustments to the questionnaires on creative services and travel services for CARICOM countries during the pilot phase.
Revising online questionnaire instructions and contextual text from a user experience perspective.
Reviewing reports generated by TiSSTAT and ensuring the effective implementation of new questionnaires.
Participating in technical workshops to train users on the functionalities of the TiSSTAT system.
Providing tailored advisory services regarding the benefits and challenges of adopting the TiSSTAT system.
Considering custom statistical tools within the TiSSTAT system to address specific needs identified during the initial analysis.
Supporting the development of training materials for TiSSTAT, including exercises for new features and questionnaires.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's) in engineering, statistics, economics, or a related field. Additionally, at least two years of relevant experience in engineering, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field is required. Experience can be gained through work in international or national organizations, universities, the private sector, or research institutes. Proficiency in engineering and statistical software such as R, SAS, Eviews, Stata, Ras, MATLAB, and GIS is essential. Specialization in digital statistics, mathematical modeling, or sustainability-focused engineering is considered an advantage.
Educational Background: The position requires an advanced university degree (Master's level) in fields such as engineering, statistics, economics, or related disciplines. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of trade-in-services and the statistical methodologies involved in the TiSSTAT system.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of two years of professional experience in relevant fields such as engineering, economics, statistics, or mathematics. This experience should ideally be gained in settings such as international organizations, national agencies, academic institutions, or private sector companies, providing a solid foundation for the consultant's responsibilities in this role.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another official UN language, particularly French or Arabic, is considered a significant asset, enhancing the consultant's ability to communicate effectively in a multilingual environment.
