Job Overview:
The Senior Syndications Officer position is a critical role within the Guarantees and Syndications Unit (GSU) of the Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD) at ADB. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about mobilizing financing from both commercial and public sources to support ADB's non-sovereign clients. The officer will play a pivotal role in the syndication of debt, which involves working closely with various stakeholders, including banks, insurance companies, institutional investors, and multilateral development banks. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing pricing and transaction support, assisting project teams with market validation, and contributing to the overall syndication process. This role requires a deep understanding of international lending markets and the ability to anticipate trends that may impact financing strategies. The Senior Syndications Officer will also be involved in knowledge management efforts, helping to increase awareness of ADB's mobilization products and supporting marketing activities to engage potential co-financiers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Syndications Officer include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing pricing and syndication support by assisting PSOD project teams with market validation of pricing for private sector debt transactions. This involves collecting relevant market pricing comparables and preparing pricing annexes.
  • Advising project teams on pricing and syndication strategies for individual syndications, working closely with lead syndicators.
  • Conducting deal-specific market research, reviewing company, economic, and financial information for new transactions.
  • Contributing to the entire syndication process by collaborating with international, regional, and local commercial banks, development finance institutions (DFIs), and other public institutions.
  • Preparing deal teasers, information memoranda, executive summaries, and other reports for co-financiers in collaboration with the relevant Investment Department.
  • Monitoring international lending markets and banking activities to understand and anticipate trends that may affect syndication efforts.
  • Playing a significant role in the investor approval and documentation process for syndicated financing, managing communication with co-financiers during due diligence and approval phases, and leading the lender Q&A process in coordination with ADB origination teams and external advisors.
  • Contributing to knowledge management by increasing awareness of ADB's mobilization products among financing parties and ADB Regional Department staff.
  • Participating in the preparation of staff instructions, materials on mobilization products, and in-house seminars and workshops. 1
  • Supporting GSU marketing activities to reach out to new potential co-financiers.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the Senior Syndications Officer position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in a business or finance-related field is required, with a Master's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional work experience in a similar organization is essential, with at least 4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Proven ability to conduct research on complex tasks, collect and organize data, and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Strong analytical thinking skills, with the ability to comprehend causal links, perform pros and cons analysis, and analyze factors to reach informed decisions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are mandatory, as the role requires effective interaction with various stakeholders.

Educational Background:
Candidates applying for the Senior Syndications Officer position should have a solid educational background that includes a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business or finance. A Master's degree or equivalent qualification is highly desirable, as it demonstrates a higher level of expertise and understanding of complex financial concepts and practices. Additional Notes:
This appointment is open to both internal and external applicants and is classified as a fixed-term appointment for an initial period of 3 years. At the end of this initial period, there is a possibility for extension for up to 2 additional years, conversion to a regular appointment, or termination based on ADB's needs and the employee's performance. The decision regarding the continuation of the appointment will be made in the overall interest of ADB, taking into account the necessity for the specific skills and experience of the staff member and their satisfactory performance.
